To be fair, this is my first laser tracing light. I have an intermediate level of experience with PAR, rotating light heads, and fixed spots and a background in IT application development. That does give me some insight into the App that is used to interact with the light. So, this light offers interaction via its own remote, via the App or via DMX. That makes it super easy to set up and use with just the remote, adds some more flexibility with the App, then goes really deep with the DMX programmability - using 28 channels to provide many, many laser display options. While the remote can be implemented in minutes, it felt like a deep dive into the DMX functionality could take hours.From what I can tell, the ring lights provided on the face of the product are intended to be looked at directly as they really don't put out much light on their own - like say a PAR or wash light would do. They are pretty and offer some nice patterns, but don't act as a source to light up something else.The laser on the other hand is quite bright and I really didn't see much of a way to dial the intensity up or down significantly. The built in images provide a lot of variety and include some animations. It should be noted that if an image goes over about 8 to 10 "points" or vertexes, it begins to flash noticeably as it is being redrawn. I don't find this a problem as it is a laser drawing device - just something to be aware of if you choose to draw your own images.The image drawing in the app is reasonably simple and easy to use, although some background in graphics art will definitely help. It does have a built-in text option making it easy to create your own message up to 3 lines long.Overall, this light is quite versatile and does a super job of displaying bright, colorful laser patterns - providing many of its own built-in and allowing you to make your own.
