This is very well built. When I ordered it said it would fit both 2" & 2 5/16" locks. That has been changed since I ordered and it won't work with the 2" lock I have without some work. I can pretty easily grind it down to fit. I did try it on a 32' RV trailer and it worked with it 2 5/16" coupler.The weakest link of most of these locks is the lock itself, not the housing. You can buy another lock to work with this if you so desire. Just search on Amazon, they are pretty common.This is a good, but not great option. At its current price point, it is a very good value. No lock will stop a determined thief. This will likely slow down most of them. It is a 4 star lock and 4.5 star value.

Had to use a grinder to create a cutout on the top of the lock to enable it to fit my trailer. Painted the cutout with rust oleum. Seems to be working fine now

This lock is absolutely awesome! The best deal I have ever gotten on a lock especially a hitch lock! Only paid 40$, much cheaper than any other hitch lock like this on the market, it’s very heavy and very solid, just as good if not better than the high end branded versions. Don’t hesitate to buy this, I was a little skeptical because of the price but it actually got delivered and works great, it doesn’t fall off even when you lift the latch, I tried a bunch of different things to try and make it fall and it stayed on the entire time, pretty tight fit and still leaves room for a padlock on the latch. I’m so happy I bought this, it looks great on my brand new enclosed trailer and will surely keep it secured! Might buy a second one just for the heck of it because of how great of a deal this thing was, absolute steal at 40$, don’t hesitate to purchase it! You won’t be disappointed!!!

I have a similar lock on one of my trailers and wanted to get another for my other trailer...but was holding off because the one I got was so expensive (around $150). When I saw this one for about $40, I thought it had to be a typo, but jumped on it.The design of the 2 locks is similar overall. They both have inserts that lock on the tongue of the trailer and a cylindrical casing that goes over that making it very difficult for anyone to drive off with my rig, The difference is in the details. The expensive trailer lock is made for a 2 5/16" coupler. The casing is powdercoated and it has a seriously strong puck lock. The mechanism that goes into the coupler is a welded ball. This unit weighs around 8+ lbs. This unit is noticably lighter, but still heavy enough to get your attention...but is easier to work with than the expensive lock. The coupling part is a skeleton of the ball in the expensive unit. It is two pieces welded into a cross shape which fits in the coupler and can be locked into place. I've seen others like this and it seems to work, but probably not as strong as the solid ball in the more expensive models, Also this one says in one part of the copy that it works on 2" and 2 5/16" couplers, but in another place it says its for 2 5/16" couplers. If that x shaped insert is small enough to fit on a 2" coupler, you won't want to use it on a larger sized coupler...a good whack with a sledge could dislodge it. I'm using it on another 2 5/16" unit and it locks into that, so doubt it would also lock into a 2" unit,,,it's too big, Lastly, the lock on this unit is not quite as heavy duty as the more expensive one,However, as this lock is almost 1/4th the price of the expensive one, I can't see how you can go wrong with this. It looks every bit as strong as the pricey model, is a little easier to handle because of the lighter weight and will allow you to lock your chains inside the casing (not all of these will do that). The lock works fine and is protected by a metal lip, so even if it is not as strong...it's still strong enough and if you hate it...you can always buy as different puck lock.I'm very happy with it and the huge savings over what they're charging for similar products.
