This valve does have a very large opening for the water to pass through.

Overall this is a fairly heavy duty and durable shut off valve. Valve works well and turns off all water when switched off with no leakage. My only issue is that it does leak if I don't use the teflon tape on the threads. Not sure if it's not fully seating against the gasket or if I need to use a wrench to tighten it (rather than hand tightening). But as long as I use the teflon tape, there's no leaking. It comes with a roll of teflon tape, so I'm assuming that the manufacturer knows that this happens.

When I buy garden hose fixtures I always look for the brass ones. Using brass avoids electrochemical reactions between different metals. A reaction like that can corrode the metals together leaving you with a real mess. For hoses, I look for brass connections. For shut-off valves like this I only buy the solid brass ones. This shut-off valve is heavy and solid. The female side has a rotatable nut, so you don't have to twist the entire fixture when attaching it to the hose. The valve is 3/4-inch through out, except for the ball, which appears to have a 1/2-inch bore. The ball seal is plastic/teflon and seals very well. The valve handle is of steel and is very solid. There is plenty of leverage to operate the valve. Other cheaper valves with have shorter handles or handles made of plastic. The plastic ones will eventually break and you have to replace the whole valve. The handle turns towards the male end of the valve, so it will not interfere with a hose spigot if you attach it directly there instead of at the end of a hose. This valve comes with three hose gaskets and a roll of teflon tape. I expect this valve to last a very long time.

This ball valve works great, the only issue I had with it is the quality of rubber washers - I could not obtain a leak proof seal on my hose bib without using the included Teflon tape.Pros:1. Quality materials2. Quarter turn Ball Valve works flawlessly3. Valve handle is easy to turn on/off and the rubber coating makes it easy to gripLows:1. Rubber washers could be better qualityPhotos:1. Valve, Teflon tape and extra washer received2. Internal view of the ball valve inside the brass body3. Valve installed on hose bib4. Fully installed: connecting hose to hose bib

I wasn't really sure about why a hose bibb would need to rotate. It seems like that would make it slightly more difficult to turn on but I thought I'd give it a try. It leaks like a sieve from where it rotates. Back to the drawing board!

Construction is fine, valve lever operates smoothly and easily, connector is easy to thread securely onto a hose. Bonus points for extra washers and a small spool of teflon tape (which is unnecessary for garden hose connections - save it for installing new shower heads and the like). Main downside to this is that the interior pass through is barely 1/2" diameter, so putting this on a 5/8" or 3/4" garden hose is going to effectively turn it into a 1/2" hose. The fact it says it fits a 3/4" hose connection is a bit deceptive and is true only because all garden hoses use the same diameter connections.

Good simple hose-end shutoff. Finally able to use on garden hose and it is working well. It is a good value for its price, considering it is inexpensive and made of plastic rather than brass. The valve turns easily, shuts off the water completely, and will likely last for a season or two of light use. Overall happy with the product while using it on low-pressure house water piping to exterior hoses.
