Really solid unit but installation with the supplied security screws can be tricky...Don't drill too small of a pilot hole or the screw will bind in the wood. Removing them to redrill a larger hole is difficult and requires pliers...hopefully vice-grip style.

Decent for the price but I do not trust this lock too withhold a simple hammer strike.

We bought multiple of these and only one still works. Inevitably, they start to jam and you can't unlock or relock it. The last time it happened, we reached out to Combi-Lock to help trouble shoot. We were hoping for some help before we had to rip out the screws and damage our fence gate. No one ever called us back. Great for the short time it works but not a consistently trustworthy product.

You can't actually set a new combination without a huge gap between bolt and latch after you've changed it. Very very unhappy that there suddenly seem to be no other reviews. Do yourself a favour and Chuck the money you would have spent on this in the bin

I bought this to use on a wooden gate that we go through multiple times per day. I needed something that locked as we have a pool in the yard, but wanted something without a key. We have several family members that go through this gate everyday as it leads to the main entrance of the house. This was the perfect solution. No key needed, so it makes for easy access for everyone, but is able to lock when needed. The quality is really good. This is a pretty heavy duty lock with a thick barrel and slides easily back and forth. Feels very solid. I am hoping this holds up well overtime in our Canadian winters!

This lock is exactly what I was looking for. I needed to lock a particular room of my house due to having a child with special needs, yet needed the others to access it without having to worry about losing or having keys. This is perfect. The lock is solid and heavy. And it's not a small lock by any means, but it definitely does the job. Initially, I thought it might be too "big and heavy" for the door as the internal door I was installing it on is a hollow core door. I ended up using some specialized anchor screws for the two screws farthest away from the door edge. The other two caught the solid edge of the door just fine. Although I appreciate the security screws included and think they are a nice offer. I decided NOT to use those as I'd like to be able to remove this lock if need be. So offering the security screws as well as a normal set would be a nice touch. I have had no issue with setting the combination or with it "unintentionally" getting reset as others have noted (perhaps due to the changes to the bolt as mentioned). This is a great option for anyone who needs a way to lock a door and not be concerned with keys or independent locking mechanisms.

I bought the lock to lock up our liquor cabinet now that we have teenagers. I did not want a key lock, as we would either get lazy and leave key accessible, lose it, or the kids would find it anyway. Combo lock is much better. This lock is well made, quite large, works great. Easy to install - just install with two way screws first, and then substitute the one way screws once you've got it in place. (Switch out the screws one at a time, replacing a two way screw with a one way screw, until all six are replaced.)Three things to note. First, the prior reviews that cite the easy ability to accidentally reset the combination as a defect are no longer valid. The company fixed this issue. There is now no way to accidentally trigger the reset function.Second, the lock only works to secure a moving part (e.g. a door) that is being latched to a fixed part (e.g., a frame or a gate post). I learned this the hard way, as I bought the lock to lock a liquor cabinet that has two doors that meet in the center and swing out, and I tried to attach the bolt side of the lock to one of the doors and the other side to the other door. Although everything was lined up properly, the lock would not hold when we opened the two doors - the lateral movement of the doors swinging would cause the lock bolt to slide out of the other side of the lock. This was easily remedied, however, by installing a simple slide bolt (available from any hardware store for $3) on the inside of one of the cabinet doors, which affixes the cabinet door to the cabinet frame. By doing this, I made one of the cabinet doors "fixed", and the other movable, and the combination lock works perfectly. It adds an extra step to the opening and closing process (you have to open the combination lock, open one of the doors and then reach inside to undo the slide bolt before you can open the second door; vice versa closing it up), but it's nothing.Third, the lock looks great in terms of its design and the chrome, but it is big. It's a little "much" for using on a liquor cabinet, but for us that's fine. For outdoor use, etc., it would be great.

We love this lock. We don't have to worry about having keys with us when we realize we need to open it -- just dial in the combination. Changing the combination is easy, so if we have a house sitter stay we temporarily change the combination. Also, you can scramble the numbers while the lock is open to hide the combination and to lock it in the open position. It's been installed outside on our gate for almost a year now. The sun hits it daily until noon and the black paint has faded some. It's been through one rainy season -- only 16 inches where we live. We use it several times a week. In the winter it got a little stiff, but it loosened up again once the weather dried up.UPDATE (8/9/2015): We've been using it for 5 years now, opening and closing it several times a day and it's still working well. Just be aware that the bolt throw is a bit short, at 9/16 of an inch, so it won't cover a large gap. Also, it works best if either the latch or the strike is on a solid structure. It doesn't work as well, for example, on our double gate because both sides have a lot of play and the gates can be shoved apart even when it's locked.
