do NOT BUY. The rubber will break and the metal inside the mute chipped off part of my bridge. Invest in a better practice mute instead!

I bought this for my child who had just taken up the cello. It the plastic coating broke within two weeks. Returned.

I was hesitant before buying this because of a few negative reviews, but I’m glad I ignored them. This is a PRACTICE mute, not a performance mute, so the emphasis is on making it quieter.Having said that, I prefer the sound of my cello with the mute on! My cello is a bit boomy, and this takes all that out. I hate the idea that my neighbours can hear me practicing, so now I feel much freer when I play. It really makes a big difference to me, be used the idea that someone might be listening puts me off practicing a lot.For the item itself, there’s a photo of my cello with it attached. I like the colour - it looks like a space invader, and it’s rubber coated metal so quite heavy. Easy to fit and take off again - like one second. Fits in the case with the rosin and tuner. Cost about £8 so the price of a few coffees.

Der Dämpfer färbt ab und nach mehreren Stunden spielen beginnt der Dämpfer einzureißen. Nicht zu empfehlen.
