Fresh tested battery, but not working. Clear Lens has become foggy and cracking. It has spent its life in a secured PFD locker. Expecting a much longer life.

I like the compact size, the brightness of the strobe and the ability to set it up to activate when immersed in water. Good value and good product to put on your boat or life vest.

This is better than the old verdion of the 70’s. It is brighter and weighs half the weight. The batteries in the older models were upwards of $40 and didn’t last long. Stop wondering about buying this and order it!!!!

Very well built an bright. I used to have a USCG strobe light that was very similar, but eventually could not get the custom batteries. This unit is equal quality. I use lithium batteries for longer shelf life and no problems with batteries fitting.

First, regarding reviews that batteries don't fit...I suspect they are trying to use rechargeable batteries which run at the top of the spec for both diameter and length (bigger battery-more mAh). I am using Duracell alkaline and they fit perfectly. Just test periodically and replace them annually as per instructions.I am a professional diver and insist on top quality in my gear. It's kind of a safety thing, you know?I HIGHLY recommend that you apply some silicone grease to the o-ring of the battery compartment and make certain there is no dirt or debris.ProsLight, tough, super bright (don't look directly at it - seriously), compact, excellent design, made in USAConsThey might have included a Velcro strap for the price which is not cheap :)Note: This is NOT a flashlight. It's one fantastic emergency signaling strobe that might just save your life!

It looks as if there is a wire cage in the 1 photo on Amazon, however it's actually a clear lexan/plastic permanent cap.It looks like there should be 3 strobes, one on either side, and one in the chrome cup, mine just lights the 2 outer leds. They seem pretty bright to me and are comparable to my other strobe, I like the fact they use AA and it has a magnetic switch to turn it off and on.As for the tiny instructions printed on the outside of the box it's nice, just need a bigger box.I'm sure for night time sea rescues, boating, man overboard, lost in the deep woods at midnight, then this strobe would be just fine.It looks much bigger than on Amazon than in person, easiest way to convey it's dimensions, take 2 AA Batteries and stack them on top of each other, that's about how tall it is, and it's about 1 AA wide, or if you took 6 AA's that would be the total footprint of the unit nice and compact, it has industrial Vecro installed on the back, in the correct fashion, it's easy to stick it anywhere a piece of soft velcro is, like a plate carrier, ball cap, etc. And there are 2 molded in place strap mounts, the whole unit looks like it's built for an emergency and looks tough, I'll put that to the test. And I'll come back if it fails that test.

EXCELLENT brightness. Dual mode. Good attachment options. I have not used all day in for kayaking yet so I will update battery life after that. This one rivals the emergency ones we had when I was in the army. (Not IR) so impressed I bought 2 more. One for my son's kayak, camping and one for my hunting backpack as I often hunt alone. Update. After little use over the last year it just quit working.

Very bright and compact! The fit for the AA batteries is kind of snug. I’m not sure if it’s the diameter of the AA (rechargeable) type batteries which are brand new or if the battery compartment diameters are on the smaller side to lessen any rattling perhaps? Not a big issue but you may have to tap the strobe light a couple of times to get the batteries to slide out.
