RoundFlash Dish

Quality Light On Location

This RoundFlash Dish diffuser changes a regular speedlight into a soft beauty dish, similar to a regular studio beauty dish combined with a sock diffuser. RoundFlash Dish is a perfect tool for headshots, portrait and still photography. Its compact construction with the mirror system inside allows you to lighten objects with directional, round, smooth flash light. The light from a powerful hot-shoe flash gun reflects in the mirror system inside and becomes a very even ring of light.

It takes a few seconds to set-up and attach the RoundFlash Dish on the flash. It is attached directly to the flash with a built in adjustable velcro. Without any additional stuff needed. No extra straps, brackets, screws etc. Just the RoundFlash Dish and your speedlight. Its ultra-lightweight construction (less then 6xAA accus!!!) and soft mount eliminate any risk of damaging or scratching the flash unit. A flash built-in wide panel helps to distribute the light evenly. You can still gel your flash.

The Round Flash Dish has a special design with a cone-like shape, a silver coated rear inner side and a silvery coated cone on the inside of the front diffuser. The latter works just like a Sock Diffuser for Beauty Dish. The special design of the light shaper of the main part of the flash light from the inner cone is redirected toward the rear inside. The inner side reflects the light to the front, so that it exits through the front diffusor. Bouncing the flash on the two specially aligned inner surfaces is achieved a relatively directional light. The light in the center is the strongest, but without a hot spot is formed, while the brightness decreases outwardly in a flowing course. This is ideal for making a subject from the background. The Round Flash Dish also met yet another benefit: The bounce flash and the front diffuser ensure that the light is spread out, so that it literally sets to match the subject. This helps to a particularly soft illumination with significant depreciation Shadow and smooth transitions between light and shadow. And finally helps the Round Flash Dish also circular, natural-looking reflections in the eyes of a photographed person and on flat surfaces.

This beauty dish is a little "delicate" but if you're careful, no problem. It works great and the big thing is its portability. You can practically throw this in your coat pocket! It takes up very little room in your gear bag and now you have an "instant beauty dish" at your disposal. I highly recommend it. Depending on how rough you are with your camera, it the band could slip off and it might fall off your flash. But if that's a problem, add a thick rubber band. I usually mount mine on a small tripod and shoot with a remote trigger, so this isn't a problem. For the price, this is outstanding.

It works as advertised, but a bit pricey for what it is.

It works great....BUT!!! I bought this about 6 months ago and its broken already....The dish is a really nice product, Ive taken some great photos with this and it folds up nicely and fits in my camera bag. I loved this product for 6 months....BUT, today it broke. The wind knocked my light stand over and inside the dish is a cheap aluminum pole that snapped.and there was no way to repair it. I have ordered a new one to replace it and have added a 3-year replacement plan. But the company who sold this to me should replace my order for free. Im a photographer who shoots outside a lot, and yes I should have had sand bags with me. But for a product that costs $70 when I bought it to break within 6 months is a joke.

First of all, let me say this thing is awesome. Not because it's as great as a beauty dish, because it's not. But it's a resonable replacement. What does make it so great though is that it travels well. It is about as well built as a cloth modifier can be. I never think twice about shoving it into my bag, since I figure it won't break, and it's so light. It folds up to about the size of both your hands if you put them together. Then it only takes moments to unfold and put on your flash. And it increases the size of your light source from the size of your flash to the size of a small beauty dish. It is a beautiful light for lighting the face, it has a pretty good fall off, although it can splash a bit wider than a beauty dish. It's a wierd hybrid somewhere between a beauty dish and soft box. One of the things I like the most about it is when I atatch it to on off camera flash in a room with normal heigh ceilings I can bring that stand right up to the roof to get some extra height that an umbrealla or softbox wouldn't allow. Sometimes you don't have high ceilings, and you need that extra 8 inches of distance from the subject. Either way this is a great solution to problems you didn't even know you had and is always in my bag now.

Very awesome product. The softness of the light is perfect, and the ring catch light in your subject's eyes give you that extra special look. You have to get it close to your subject due to it's small size, but that's the price to pay for portability. It's a perfect mix of a ring light, softbox, and beauty dish that's very light and portable.

This has become my single most indispensable flash modifier. It is light, portable and does great things with light. Its only weakness is the fastening strap as sometimes the beauty dish dislodges from the flash and falls as the light is moved around. But that is minor compared to the results. I would love to see a 22" beauty dish using the same framework. I think it would do very well with serious flash users. Highly recommended even though time must pass to see how long it lasts.

Needed to replace my main 22-inch beauty dish, as I am currently relocating and won't be able to bring every piece of my gear. This little buddy is really going to come in handy. I also like its softbox output as opposed to the output that a beauty dish would blast. I think it's a nice portable addition to go with my Yongnuo Speedlight. I read a review about how there might be a small issue with using it in windy shooting environments. But I think the way the inner mount holds the RoundFlash out, I'll probably only have to make some minor adjustments to keep it from flopping all over the place (some tape, some small rods, etc.). For the most part, for portable/quick set ups, I think the RoundFlash Beauty Dish/Softbox may be a good route to go. Tested it out recently, as soon as it shipped in, and I'm very satisfied with the results. We will see how it holds up in a variety of shooting situations, but I'm confident--after reading/watching reviews--that I'll have little to worry about!
