I'm used to the typical lightweight plastic ashtrays we use in our vehicles, so I was surprised at how heavy this ashtray was when I took it out of its box. The actual inside part, which is NOT removable from the plastic sleeve, is ceramic. Not a deal breaker by any means & I actually kind of like it because I don't have to worry about it blowing away when we leave it outside. The possible downside is that I hope it doesn't break if it accidentally gets knocked over & hits the ground. When you open the lid, a small blue light turns on making it easy to see if you're using it where it's dark. Overall, I'm very happy with its function as well as its design.
