This is a good guide for a game that I love. I built it into a tabletop that I'm working on. You'll get better results if you use a hardwood. The pegs for the game are meant for a 1/8" hole so that is your drill size and the holes in the template are slightly bigger. Clamp it down well to get around all of your holes. I used a stopper on my drill so that it would only go so deep. If your wood is too green, you will need to clean the holes out several times to finish it off.

I have been a cribbage enthusiast since I was in my early 20's (which is a looooong time ago now). I've owned a couple of boards, and I've played on a decent variety of them as well over the years. I also took up woodworking a few years ago, and am regularly looking for new things to try making. This represents the latest iteration, in that it combines my enjoyment of cribbage with my new hobby of woodworking. I just got it and plan on setting about to try it out right away - I already have ideas on different varieties to create. The template is a nice, thick plastic, translucent so you can see your workpiece below, and the holes are engineered consistently and precisely - which I need! I look forward to experimenting and having fun with this new template, and it's quality enough that I can already tell I recommend it to others who would like to try their hand at custom boards!
