Gold-colored metal shelves，I haven't tried to put anything heavy on my single shelf, but it does feel like it'll support at least a couple pounds, since the pins for the cubicle wall are quite long and bite into the foam board behind my fabric panels really well. Worth noting that the wood of the shelf itself is very lightweight. It almost feels like balsa wood - it's THAT light - despite looking like it would be more substantial. It's not a bad thing though. It just means that you have more leeway to hang something a bit heavier because you're not also adding the weight of the shelf itself into the equation.

These are SO much better than the shelves that attach to the tops of the cubicle walls because you can install them anywhere there is a fabric panel, instead of being limited to only having shelving up high because every one of those units I've ever seen have very short hanging arms.
