We have used several different prosumer recorder for sermon recording for our church for many years. Prior to that the sermons were recorded on CD (well into the 2000s!). We have also tried recording with the on-board USB port on the digital mixer, as well as PC-based recording software. Each have their own flaws. The hand-held unit (even as pro-grade recroder used for filming) are not stable enough at times that we lose recordings.Enter Denon DN-700R. We were very excited when we find the system (yes we have had them for a number of years). It does everything we need for our team: reliable recording. dual-recording (backup), FTP function, web interface (to control and to download the files). and AES-EBU interface to direct out from the mixer, preserving both volume and clarity of the recording. We've been using it since late 2014. With the last 5 years, there were times the SD card would fail, but Denon never stop deliver sermon week after week. And while FTP protocol now seems outdated, we are able to leverage the web interface now to remote control as well as downloading files.Bottom line, this is one very reliable system, quite fankly, just works. The $700-800 price (at the time of purchase, now much cheaper) was well worth it. If you are looking for a recorder with instant backup on a permenent install basis I would recommend this unit for its performance, reliability, and the feature it provides. It integrates very well with other professional audio systems into a good platform.

Nice unit Court Clerk loves the usability and also handy for City Council meetings, nice not needing CD's for audio recordings. The factory has excellent customer service. Would recommend to anyone needing audio recordings.

Top notch awesomeness. This recorder is EVERYTHING that I have ever wanted in a network recorder, and then some. Highly recommended for anyone that needs this type of recorder - ditch your old Marantz PMD series rack recorders and replace them with this superb unit.
