The instructions for this walk you through set up step by step and make it very easy. This does need to be plugged in and you need to provide your own reservoir. Once I had children my plants suffered, as I am apparently expending all my energy keeping the humans alive, lol. This will bring me back to plant lady status with a much lower mental load, whew! It will also keep everything watered during vacations, and can be adjusted if I bring all plants together during a trip they can ask be watered in the same place temporarily. It does require minimal planning and setup, but it was easy and I have no leaks! Very, very pleased!

This is a great starter kit for automated irrigation for houseplants. The only things you need to do are set it up, configure the schedule (when and how long to water), and occasionally refill the reservoir.I'm using it for my orchids, which prefer well-drained roots and a tropical environment. With this system, I can set the timer to dispense water directly into their pots for about three to five seconds every few hours. Which is perfect for their needs. The starter kit includes:Timer/pump unitAC power cordReservoir siphon10 T-fittings3 X-fittings5 hose plugsAbout 30 feet of tubing (similar to standard aquarium air tubing)Setup instructionsOver time, you may want to reconfigure or expand the system. Thankfully, all the components appear to be standard-sized, so finding compatible parts should be easy. The only thing I feel is missing from the kit are sprayer nozzles. Orchids absorb nutrients best through leaf misting, so that would have been a nice addition. That said, misting wasn’t listed as part of the kit’s features, so it's not a dealbreaker. I'm confident I can add sprayers later, thanks to the system's modular and standardized design.Overall, a solid system, that is reliable, customizable, and great value for the price.

Alright, let me cut to the point. You’re not going to be watering 15 plants with this unless they’re all in tiny pots with single drippers. For anything larger, you might get away with 12, but even that’s pushing it.This system does work well if all your pots are the same size. If you’ve got larger ones, you’ll need to run at least 2 outlets to each to get enough water. Otherwise, you’ll drown your smaller pots trying to compensate. If you’re mixing pot sizes, you’ll also need to adjust the flow for the smaller ones to avoid overwatering them.I picked this up mainly for vacations so I don’t have to worry about the plants. Most days I still water by hand, but for $25 at the time of this review, it’s worth setting up as a backup to keep things alive while you’re away for a few days.

I'm very happy with this item. It's very good quality and the instructions were pretty clear after I reread them 3 times. I'm a purple finger who has killed plastic plants. I can't even remember if I ate anything, how am I supposed to remember to feed my plants. My nephew gifted me some seeds and I combined my other lightning gadget with this and now I can travel in peace knowing that my plants are being watered. I cut the hoses and plugged in the connectors provided and after settling my feeding schedule I was golden. It has a manual setting which helped me determine what length of time the water would be released. I set for 10 seconds watering every 5 days, per the seed directions and so far so good. Make sure you cut the hoses with enough length between the plants or the watering stakes won't hold. This is a great item. It does what it's supposed to do!

I have looked at these plant watering systems before several months ago. At the time, I ended up getting a bit intimidated by how complicated I felt they seemed to be. Here I am now taking it slowly a step at a time. I appreciate the fact that one can have many plants getting water, however I will only begin by utilizing the device set up for 5 initially. After I feel sufficiently comfortable with the entire set-up I very well elect to add several more. I am figuring that setting up for watering 5 plants initially should be sufficient for me to acclimate to properly utilizing the device. I am taking it a step at a time, and while a bit intimidating, taking it slowly seems to make it a bit less intimidating to me.I have just completed set up of the automatic plant waterer. As mentioned, I just felt that it would be simpler initially setting up for 5 plants that are on one plant table. I figured this smaller table-based setting would necessitate far less tubing and everything would be close at hand, so simpler until I had established the working concept. I am set up to water every two days for 1 minute. of watering for each plant. I am setting the alarm on my phone to remind me so that I can be watching and there, ascertaining just how much water will flow within the time increment. At this point I want to gain clarity as to just how much water will flow to each plant within that one-minute time frame. Obviously, I recognize that I may need to increase that time frame or the increments of time between waterings. That would be based upon indoor conditions, temperature, the respective plant and the size of the container in which the plant is located. This was not difficult to set up. One step at a time, with the directions, I was able to get the entire thing together. Given what I have experienced thus far, I would recommend this product. It strikes me as a product that seems well constructed, is quite dependable, and has a definite place in our busy world amid a whirlwind of distractions that can prevent us from remembering to water when our plants most need water. Given that, I would definitely say that this is an excellent product that can simplify care of your plants. Highly recommended!
