I love the pocket size. It is a great way to do small works of art to keep the practice of art going when you dno't feel like pulling out all the big stuff. Great for traveling.

All four of sketchbooks arrived in good condition. The covers have a slightly greasy/plastic-y feel to them, but should be easy to keep clean. The paper is decent quality FOR THE PRICE. It is stiff but thin. It has visible texture, but no real tooth. I would say it feels more like uncoated cardstock that was embossed to look like high quality watercolor paper than actual high quality watercolor paper. That said, I found it takes layers of washes very well, the warping was about the same as my 230gsm Etchr sketchbook, and it absorbs water pretty quickly, which suits my style but might limit blending for some.My biggest frustration is that, without tooth, my Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water soluble pastels were difficult and not enjoyable to work with on this paper. This was especially true on the raw paper, but they worked a little better after a wash had swollen the fibers some, and not too bad on damp paper. FWIW, I was able to use Crayola crayons as wax resist in spots here and there, and was able to add pastel pencil highlights to a page after doing a bunch of washes without much frustration. So, in general I'm glad I bought these as handy low-stakes experiment & practice sketchbooks. They just aren't going to replace my Etchr/Arches/Fabriano/Strathmore 500 series cotton cold-press watercolor paper products. Finally, although I don't really care about them, I found the included water brushes to be very low quality. They don't unscrew, so you have to suck the water in from a glass, and when I squeezed water out, more bubbled out the side of the brush than flowed through the brush.

These books are perfect size to add to a gift box. They are the perfect size to use as an upscale notebook as well as sketch nook. They fit easily into coat or jacket pocket.

this set is very well made and I like the size and quality of the paper. I gave one to my 10 yr old, kept one of my use, and will add the other 2 to the birthday present stash. Recommend.

These are kind of a weird size, but the paper seems to stand up to water coloring.Still haven’t figured out the little brushes that came with them, but the books are great for travel.

I took out the first book to check it out and immediately the pages pulled apart from the binding. It was disappointing but I decided to use it for my sketching practice. A few days later I thought I had better check the other 3 books. The pages pulled apart from the binding in 2 of the 4 sketchbooks. I do not feel confident that I can use the sketchbooks under normal conditions without the other 2 books also having its pages pull apart from the binding. Since I already started using one, I figured I could not return these in good conscious. I am writing this review instead so that others would be aware of this potential defect. Otherwise, the sketchbooks were each packaged with a plastic wrap and all 4 books were packed into one box - well protected. Paint pens were included which was a nice addition. The 3.5 x 5.5 size is perfect for travel. The cover is a nice grey color and the material feels very soft and looks very rich. The paper is 140lb and has a high quality feel. Easily a "5" quality rating except took away stars for the faulty binding.
