I needed to replace my overflow drain. This fitted my bathtub and I'm happy with the quality. Easy to change over from my broken one.

Not the best plug. I was expecting a plug that springs up and down. This plug is a pull up and twist. It does what a plug is suppose to do though.

Won't completely prevent water from draining.

I bought a new home. The master tub drain was rusted and a magnet for my wife's hair. I needed to replace the drain in part so I could snake out the bottom one time to make sure I'd gotten everything, and partially so I could install something less rusted so when I install drain covers they won't just pick up the rust and rot away instantly. This kit did the job.Pros:Looks great. My nickel finish was perfect.Has the adapter. My home (1960s) has the old-style pipes that need the adapter. This kit fit perfectly.Installed perfectly on the first try. Everything fits.Drain plug and support can be screwed out if you're like me and you really just want to install a hair-catcher to keep your wife's hair from causing a larger job.So far the function is 100% perfect.Cons:Drain plug doesn't rest very solidly. The drain plug does just float and when you want it up you sort of spin it until you find a spot for it to rest. That's fine for my needs, as 90% of the time I'm going to leave that part off so I can install a hair catcher. It did properly stop water when it was down though, so for my needs, that's great. My wife will pull out the plug once every few months when she wants a bath. But if you intend to leave the drain plug installed I imagine you'll occasionally knock it with your foot so it stops draining. Not a big annoyance for me.Overall:Totally satisfied. This kit allowed me to remove the old plunger-style mechanism that wasn't working anyway, and replace it with something that works much better.

Great kit. Fits older tubs or newer tubs that’s what I like about it I have an older house that uses the 1 5/16 threaded insert and you can’t find this all metal replacement kit for the price anywhere. The big box stores sell these cheap plastic ones that are nothing but garbage. Very easy to install as long as you have basic knowledge and the proper tools.

Learning by trial and error fit installation with barbell type drain puller this kit is actually nice but the gaskets with these only last 2-3 years. I learned to align the drain to the center before placing the collar and use the plumber's soft putty rather than a gasket for longevity. The lift is higher than most but means faster draining yet is a bit wobbly but works with a twist.

Used this kit to replace a 50 year old tub drain that was controlled by a trip lever. Had to cut out the old drain that was frozen to the tub shoe. I used pipe dope on the new threads and plumbers putty on the flange for a leak-free installation. My customer was very pleased with the results.

it was so hard to find a new drain set up for our tub that had a smaller drain hole than we could find in any of the big chain or smaller hardware stores! Everyone sells only the wide hole ones so we were very happy when we found this one that accommodates both size drain holes in a tub as there is an outer brass sleeve (adapter) that comes with this unit and we removed that and were able to simply screw this one right into place! It also comes with the solid cover for the old handle lift up drain part that we also would have had to replace since putting this type of drain now in place of the old thing. It is also a very heavy, good quality piece. Very happy!

I used this to replace the lever style drain and stopper in my 1970s tub. It was a very simple install with a good amount of plumber's putty. I highly recommend getting a drain removal tool if you are replacing an old drain! My only two complaints are 1) the stopper sits higher than I would like when in the open position, and 2) I can't seem to get a perfect seal when the stopper is closed (i.e. I can hear a tiny trickle of water draining when the tub is filled and the stopper is closed). Neither issue is enough to make me want to replace this unit, however. Overall it is definitely an improvement over my old lever drain stopper.

One star off for casting flash, see below. If you have an older bath drain this may be what you need. I removed an old drain from an early '60's vintage house, the old drain is on the right in the picture. It is 16 threads per inch and was installed with the brass adapter below it, which is 16 tpi both on the ID and OD. Difficult to remove and separate because of corrosion. The old drain is 7/8" deep, the one described here is 1-1/4" deep but that wasn't a problem. I was able to clean and reuse the old adapter, but this time used Teflon tape thread sealant. Note, more modern drains are 14 threads per inch and incompatible with this drain.I took one star off because the standard dumbbell wrench wouldn't fit in until I filed casting flash from the ID at the bottom of the drain where the "cross" is. Otherwise the fit, finish, appearance and quality are fine and it functions as advertised. You may need an adapter, available in brass and probably polypropylene. Again it is difficult to find exactly what you need. I heated the old drain then dropped it in PB Blaster to soak overnight, then wrapped an old leather belt around the outside of the old adapter and hung a pipe wrench on it.The bathtub drain thing is confusing for DIY'ers. If you have plastic drain pipe this is probably not the drain you need.
