Everything works great out of the box, which is packaged cleanly and nicely.Weight is quite heavy (feels about 50lbs lifting), but the size itself is relatively manageable at only about 3.5 feet tall.Cooling is quiet, expect a soft white noise that some people prefer.Air is instantly and continuously cool, and provides a perfect angle that fills the whole room.Requires you to lift it slightly in order to roll on carpet. All functionality is great so far — the remote comes with batteries and features a clear screen to manage settings. The app is well-regarded, though I haven’t tried it yet.Well worth the $500 price tag, and a significant upgrade from my previous, cheaper unit.Exhaust hose is a bit short at about 5 feet long. Because the unit is a floor unit, and the exhaust connects at about 1 foot off the ground, windows with shelves, couches, or other items below them may have trouble extending the hose out far enough to connect to the unit straight out of the box.Ensure you will be connecting your unit almost directly below a window.

The window installation was not hard. I had plenty of foam material to do the job. My window is 33” and I had a piece left over. The vent hose is as described, clips in one end and slides onto the a/c outlet on the other. Expect the vent hose to get warm while in use. The unit comes with a water drain line but as advertised it will evaporate as it accumulates. My room is 144 sq feet and I bought the larger unit (515 S) because I get a lot of afternoon sun and have no insulation. So far it’s working well , in auto the high fan only comes on occasionally. In S. Fl that’s a win.

The DREO 12000 BTU is effective at cooling but results may vary a little depending on the size of your room, and if your room is properly insulated (I have proper attic insulation from an attic insulation contractor and dual pane windows throughout. So my setup may be different than yours.)Notes:-I measured the ability to cool a 120 sq ft room with 1 energy efficient dual pane window.-I also measured the ability to cool a 250 sq ft vaulted ceiling room with 3 energy efficient dual pane (low E) windows with the sun beating down on 2 windows in the afternoon.-One may consider putting insulation wrap around the exhaust hose. It gets very warm, which may interfere with your ability to cool the room (I only tested with wrapping on the exhaust hose).-The Dreo thermostat seems to be off between 2-5 degrees Fahrenheit compared to 5 different digital thermometers that I used in the room. (3 of these thermometers are calibrated and consistent with each other. The other 2 thermometers are not able to be calibrated.)TEST 1: Noise level-I used the Decibel Meter app on my phone (not sure how accurate the app is).-At the Loudest setting, i measured 63db at 6 in. from the mouth of the fan and 59 db at 5 ft. This is a tolerable level for an office.-At the softest setting, I measured 59 db at 6in. from the mouth of the fan and 53 db at 5 ft.- The advertised lowest loudness is 45db but i was only able to record 45 db at 13ft away.**CONCLUSION: My readings show that the AC unit is not as quiet as described by the advertisement unless you are 13 feet away, but is quiet enough for some.**Thus, I am taking a 1/2 star off.**COOLING TEST 1: 250 sq ft room with vaulted ceilings and 3 energy efficient dual pane (low E) windows-I set the thermostat to 68F. It took 1 hour to drop from 75F to 70F. My 3 digital thermometers read 70F and 2 non calibrate-able thermometers reading 72F. I trust my calibrated thermometers more. So, there is a difference of 2 degrees F between the Dreo thermostat and the 3 calibrated thermometers. (Thermometers were equidistant from the AC unit at different parts of the room).**CONCLUSION: The unit cools as intended for a 250 sq ft room, even with a thermostat discrepancy of 2 degrees F.COOLING TEST 2: 250 sq ft room with vaulted ceilings and 3 energy efficient dual pane (low E) windows-I set the thermostat to the LOWEST setting, 61F. It took under 2.5 hours to drop from 77F to 66F. My 3 digital thermometers read 66F and 2 non calibrate-able thermometers reading 68F. Using my calibrated thermometers, there is a difference of 5 degrees F between the Dreo thermostat and the 3 calibrated thermometers. Thermometers were equidistant from the AC unit at different parts of the room.-Recording of temperature stopped when the temperature from the 3 thermometers no longer decreased for 15 minutes.**CONCLUSION: The unit cools as intended for a 250 sq ft room. The difference in 5 degrees F between the AC thermostat and my calibrated thermometers has been observed in other Amazon reviews for the Dreo units.-Recording of temperature stopped when the temperature from the 3 thermometers no longer decreased for 15 minutes.**Thus, i am taking another 1/2 star for the temperature discrepancy of 5 degrees F.**COOLING TEST 3: 120 sq ft room with 1 energy efficient dual pane window only (no high ceiling)-I set the thermostat to the LOWEST setting, 61F. It took under 2 hours to drop from 80F to 66F. My 3 digital thermometers read 66F and 2 non calibrate-able thermometers reading 63F. Using my calibrated thermometers, there is a difference of 5 degrees F between the Dreo thermostat and the 3 calibrated thermometers.-Recording of temperature stopped when the temperature from the 3 thermometers no longer decreased for 15 minutes.**CONCLUSION: The unit effectively cools a 120 sq ft room. It was somewhat quicker to cool a 120 sq ft room than a 250 sq ft room. Unfortunately, the same discrepancy of 5 degrees F between the AC thermostat and my 3 calibrated thermometers was observed in 2 different tests (in the 250 sq ft room and the 120 sq ft room).OTHER FEATURES:-It feels well built-I like that it has an app to let you control it from your phone-*I used a digital scale to weigh this item at 64.8 lbs. The advertised weight is 62.9 lbs. It is heavy, but this is normal for other portable AC units that are similar in size.*-It comes with a window vent kit. It also comes with weatherstripping unlike other kits, which I like!-I wish the exhaust vent came with insulation wrap (It gets VERY warm) and may inhibit your ability to cool a room.-I have been using this Dreo unit for less than 2 weeks without issues and i have not yet had to drain the tank.****FINAL REMARKS: Unless you got a lemon, this AC unit is able to cool a room on a hot day. I recommend it to other prospective buyers.-Despite an observed thermostat discrepancy of as much as 5 degrees F, it effectively cooled a 120sq foot and 250 sq ft room by as much as 14 degrees F and should be able to cool more. Results may vary depending on room size and insulation.

I live in south Florida and it is so hot now…I have an art room and it is the hottest room in the house no matter how nice the rest of the house is…my husband set this up easily in my art room and it is ice cold…goes down to like 60 degrees…he did have to put on top of a parsons table to get the tube out the window but that is fine….very nice unit :)

This portable air conditioner is a great alternative to traditional window units. Even though it weighs in at just under 70 lbs., in the long run it is way easier and convenient to set up.One of the biggest differences between this unit and a window unit is that you don’t need to have additional brackets or bracing, which would typically have to be secured to the window frame or exterior wall of your house with screws or bolts. Therefore, this eliminates potential areas for leaks and water infiltration. Next, you don’t have to lift the heavy AC unit up to waist height, slide it out onto the brackets all while trying not to drop it as you maneuver it into just the right position. This portable air conditioner comes equipped with a variety of features. First, it can be controlled by a smart device like Amazon Alexa or Google Home. It can also be controlled via the included remote control or DREO APP. Secondly, it is completely programmable. You can set temperatures, fan speeds, timers, daily routines and much more. Third, this air conditioner doesn’t need a drain. It transfers the excess water to the condenser. Fourth, it utilizes advanced noise cancelling technology, making this AC extremely quite. We are using this AC unit in a bonus room we finished over our garage. We do have central air, but this room is at the very end of the run and doesn’t stay very cool. Additionally, it gets a lot of sun, making it virtually impossible for the central air to keep up. However, this AC unit has made all of the difference. From the time we turn it on, you can feel a difference within minutes. In about 15 to 20 minutes the entire room, which is approximately 350 sq. ft., is nice and cool.We love everything about this AC unit. It comes with absolutely everything you will need to get up and running, from the flex hose to the the insulation. Setup is a cinch and the APP is extremely easy to use. I would highly recommend this AC unit.
