This is a lovely pie plate, however, I wanted it based on the two-tone aqua-teal color as pictured in the photo. This pie pan was to be a perfect, specialty dish to use with guests, but I returned it due to the solid color.

I bought this as a gift....replacing one for my daughter since 1 of hers had gotten broken in a recent move. These Fiestaware pie plates are the best pie plate that I have ever owned. I have had 2 for more than 10 yrs. and have given them to both my daughters and a grand daughter. Piecrust seems to cook perfectly in them without getting overdone and hard and they are deep enough for fruit pies with out a lot of bubbling over and then an oven to clean.

This pie plate makes me happy when I use it! It is a great size for making a large pie and the color is so pretty that it's nice to serve pies out of it to guests.I do think it's important to know that a lot of recipes are for 9 inch pies, and this plate is a bit bigger. I make my own crust so this typically isn't a big deal, but something to keep in mind when you're thinking about your recipe. The pie plate is a nice weight and easy to wash. It would make a nice gift to the baker in your life!

It's hard to tell from the product photo but there is a lip on the inner rim of the pie plate. I previously used Pyrex plates that have the side handles and thought this plate would not be as useful. The rim and the inner lip of the plate is deep enough that it allows easy removal from the oven without worrying about touching the crust with the hot pads. The colors (got turquoise and purple) are vibrant and eye catching. As with most Fiesta ware, it is heavier than Pyrex. I do keep a cut piece of non-adhesive shelf liner between the pie plates since the bottom of the plate tends to scratch the glaze of the one it sits on top of. I anticipate using these pie plates for a long time. My plates (4) came well wrapped in bubble wrap and one even was in a separate box within the shipping box. I believe someone actually read all the complaints of broken plates in the shipping process.

I had been wanting a couple of new pie pans, and when I saw the Fiesta pie pans I knew I had to have them. They are wonderful for pies, but also for heating up or baking other items. And a dream to clean up. I had warmed up some meatloaf with the sauce on it. All it took was a quick wipe and the baked on sauce wiped right off. I got both of mine in Ivory. LOVE THEM. Also they came packaged well with lots of bubble wrap, I couldn't have asked for better packaging. Thanks Amazon!

I use my pie baker very frequently for pies, quiches, and even as a random piece of bake ware for cinnamon rolls or whatever else will fit. It has held up fabulously through many crust bakings and washing machine runs. It's the perfect standard pie size--it has perfectly accommodated all of my recipes. I think it also makes for a great presentation, especially if it matches your table setting. Perhaps best, this piece is so easy to clean--residue comes right off with hot water and, like all Fiestaware, it goes through the dishwasher like a pro. Highly recommended, even if you aren't a Fiestaware collector.

I like the design around the rim. It is scalloped on the edging on the outside that draws away from the fact that my homemade crust edges are not perfect. The fact that the edge is indented also helps to prevent leaking of pie juices. In response to other reviewer's complaints about the depth, the term "deep dish" is relative. The contents of the pie can be filled above the depth of the rim. It is relatively deep. I recently used two of these dishes to bake fresh apple pie. The recipe recommended that the crust around the rim be covered with aluminum foil for part of the baking time, to prevent over browning. I did not do that. The crust still came out perfectly, no burns, no overbrowning. I think this is because the edges are protected inside the indentation. And again - no leaking of pie juices, so I didn't need to use a baking sheet under the pies to protect the bottom of the oven.
