It sits way too far back on the head. You could see half my toboggan underneath. The ribbons are in the wrong place. I gave it 3 stars because I actually wore it at the event for two hours but had to consistently keep tugging on it for it to look right. Would not recommend.

As expected, this only comes in one size, and it's a bit too large for me. The price is very good. I will have to add a larger size of ribbon to make the correct size bow, as the ribbon that comes with it is not what women wore in the 1800s. But I need it for participating in the Dickens' Event.

I purchased this bonnet to decorate and wear as a part of a regency era costume. It is nice to wear as it is sturdy and comfortable. It also made a great base hat to add a little decor to. If you are looking for a fancier bonnet you can add colored ribbons or some silk flowers. I would purchase this item again in other colors to add to my costume wardrobe.

My daughter wore this in a performance of Pride and Prejudice. With all of her costume changes, this bonnet often was tossed into her show basket with other dresses, petticoats, shoes, and accessories piled on top of it. Regardless, it managed to hold its shape throughout the show's run, without being stiff, rigid, or uncomfortable. The fabric didn't pill or pull. Great accessory for theatre, halloween costumes, or just dress-up.

Perfect bonnet for a Christmas costume! I didn’t like the terrible bonnet that came with the costume I got and wanted something that was actually stiff and wouldn’t flop around. I dressed my family up at Charles Dickens-esque Christmas carolers for Halloween, and I needed a hat that wouldn’t annoy me as I walked around with my kids. This bonnet was ideal for that and fixed up beautifully when I decided to add some detail to it. It didn’t require detail added, but I like a touch of flair to my costumes. Hot glue held everything just fine as I was worried a needle on this material wouldn’t work at all. It would be a bit like trying to see detail on a rounded piece of cardboard. Skip the sewing and grab the glue gun! The bonnet was very comfortable and fit well over my head full of thick, curly hair.

I concur with other reviewers that this is not the most historically accurate bonnet, but it works in a pinch and it's the best you'll find at this price point for costume use. I bought it for Dickens Fair and took off the ribbons to replace them with prettier ones. This bonnet isn't flimsy-- it's got good structure and the felt is thick-feeling, if overly stiffened (tough to get a needle through). If you have longer hair you'll need to braid it down tight to get it to fit in the crown of the bonnet-- there's not a lot of room-- but it works.
