Used this to adapt a 31.8 front derailleur to a 28.6 steel seat tube. The adapter compresses quite a bit under clamp pressure. I tightened the clamp until it bottomed out. This was not tight enough and the derailleur shifted and rotated, causing chain suck and damaging the "brand new" finish on my frame.A friend gave me an old Ultegra derailleur w/ 28.6 clamp and it now shifts smooth as butta'. Don't waste your money on this thing.

I needed this to mount the front derailleur on my Niner MCR, which has a much smaller diameter seat tube than most aluminum bikes. So far, the derailleur has remained in place. I'm happy.

clearly we want the parts to just fit without putting stupid stuff on like shims, but if you've worked at all on bikes, you know that part sizes and compatibility are as transient as dandelions in the wind. I replaced a shot front derailleur on a Bianchi steel frame, and the most recent iteration of veloce was sized larger than it was 7 years ago. this shim fit great and allowed me to use the part without having to special order something from Italy.
