I got the 3" wide 2-pack roll of this Gaffer tape in White. Gaffer tape can have some advantages over duct tape in that it's more of a cloth based tape vs polyethylene and tends not to leave a sticky residue when removed. This stuff features a good adhesive and is a little more stretchy than typical duct tape, so I find that it conforms to irregular surfaces quite well. This tape is also non-reflective and so good for photographic applications where a matte surface is more practical. It's generally not intended for long term use and I've had other brands of gaffer tape peel away after several months of application. This is also not the easiest tape to tear by hand but with some practice, it can be done. I found that it left a thread or two hanging loose sometimes after tearing. Although these are standard sized cardboard rolls, you don't get quite as much per roll others I've tried. This is only 10yds per roll compared with the 30yds or more that is typically available on a roll. Considering the quality and strength of this tape, I'm mostly deducting a star for the quantity at the current price of $15.99 for 20yds of tape.

I love this 4inch black gaffers tape from D-NYX. It has solid sticking power and doesn't leave behind any residue which is critical. I got the black this time and its fantastic for securing cables, blocking out reflective materials and securing edges from being a tripping hazard without casting any color or reflectivity. Works fantastic, easy to use and durable, good stuff. As an exclusive contributor to a prominent stock media agency with 25 years of experience in freelance photography and videography, I offer informed and professional opinions of camera and video equipment.I will update this review if anything changes within 1 year. A 5-star rating indicates the product meets my expectations for its purpose.

What else is there to say? For 12 bucks you get 2 rolls of high quality matte gaff tape which is a pretty good value in my opinion. The tape itself is as sticky as expected and it doesn't appear to leave residue, also as expected. It has a strong hold on most surfaces I tested it on, and also comes off relatively easily. The tape also tears easily without needing to cut it with scissors or whatever. The only thing I noticed is that neither the edges nor sticky side of the tape are black, so if you need something that's *completely* black, you'll need to find something else.Ultimately, I don't see why you wouldn't get this as general purpose gaff tape.Highly recommended.

Gaffer tape is one of those things that once you use it you wonder how you ever got along without it.This tape is like normal black gaffer tape I have used in the past, it works exactly as I would expect it to. The black of the tape is a perfect matte black and seems great for photography, video production, stagecraft and anything else where you want a very sticky light absorbing black tape that adheres well and can still be removed without leaving a nasty residue. But know that is you use gaffer tape for dark arts (if you know, you know) the edges and sides of the tape DO catch light and can be seen. The edges of this tape are not black like in the Amazon listing. The adhesive side of the tape and it's edges are white (like many gaffer tape types) so if using this for conjuring and stage magic you will need to make minor tweaks with a sharpie. This tape set includes two four inch wide rolls of tape at a great price yet still feeling and behaving like quality gaffer tapes I have used in the past backstage. It's VERY sticky and, at least in my use (albeit not leaving it under hot lights or for a long period of time) removes cleanly. It tears straight and without annoying straggler threads, which is a plus. Nice clean tears. My pictures show how the tape looks on the sides and the backside and the light catching edge (normal for white adhesive type tapes) when it's adhered to itself. A sharpie can be a quick fix for this effect if you need the fix for what you are doing with the tape.To sum up, this is great gaffer tape for photography, video, stage and haunted house or general stick something to something else, but will require a little extra step if using for dark arts.I recommend this for the price -- 5 stars

I normally only use Pro-Gaff brand tape, but decided to try this tape as it is available in smaller length rolls. Usually, 3" gaffer's tape is only sold in 55-yard rolls which are bulky and quite expensive. Often I have had the need to bring small rolls where I know ahead of time that I will not need the 55-yard rolls and space for packing setup material is at a premium. This 10-foot roll fills that need quite well. It appears to be identical to Pro-Gaff adhesive-wise. It tears the same, both longitudinally, and horizontally. It is flat black which is perfect for photography, although I use it as a professional music director when I need to supply my own equipment. This 3" tape is perfect width for a single AC line of 14-gage SO-cord plus 2 XLR audio cables. It adheres to ballroom floors, carpeting, and fairly rough surfaces as well. Even after a few days, I was able to remove it (with some force), but it still did not leave behind any adhesive residue....which is what gaffer's tape is all about! This tape is cost effective as the price per yard is not much different than the 55-yard rolls (on a cost per yard basis), but is both easier to transport, and beneficial to those that do not need much larger rolls. IMHOHighly recommended.
