This is so much easier to use than a traditional garlic press, and it cleans up really easily! I used it to crush a whole garlic bulb, a few cloves at a time. It does clog up with the clove skins after about half the bulb is processed, but the slots are easy to clear out with a small knife or fork tine. When I was finished with it, I tossed it in a bowl full of water that was soaking in the sink. When I went to clean everything up, all I needed to do was rinse this item under the tap.

I really like this garlic grinder, especially since I'm a bit older and my hands aren't as strong as they used to be.I first ground up some pecans just to try it out. I was surprised to see how easy it was to grind the nuts into very tiny pieces without much effort at all. Bonus points for that.Next, I bought some fresh garlic. I sliced two garlic cloves into 4 slices each, put them into the grinder, and within less than 30 seconds I had finely ground garlic ready to use. Much easier than trying to squeeze those other types of garlic presses - I think because you use both hands to turn the grinder back and forth - the effort required was minimal. Yay!I think slicing the garlic increases the ease of use and makes it faster as well.Less mess! The garlic came out of the grinder base easily, no garlic was stuck in the blades with this technique. Rinses easily with water to clean. And you can store extra ground up garlic in the base with the handy lid. Nice!

You have to press down hard initially, then twist. It does help to cut large cloves into smaller pieces first. Produces mashed garlic, and the storage feature is clever. Not sure it’s any better than a standard garlic press, but it's easier to clean.

I ordered this recently and loved it with the first try! I will be trying the grinder on ginger, nuts and maybe some herbs. I had purchased an electric mincer but it broke after 2 or 3 uses. This is not a press a button type mincer, it takes some twists but it is very easy to use. Another plus is that it is easy to wash. I did not put in dishwasher but I believe you can.

I was a little skeptical about this product, but it works beautifully! You put the peeled cloves inside, press down, and twist the top back and forth a few times. It's easy to do and very quick. If you open it and there is still a lot of garlic in the chamber, just put the top back on and twist it a few more times. The garlic ends up what I would describe as "shredded" rather than chopped or made into a paste, but that fits my needs, as it's ideal for distributing evenly in a dish. I could never manage to get it chopped small enough manually, so I appreciate this tool and appreciate that it's dishwasher-safe and that there are no sharp blades to worry about. Great little product that I will use often!

I use a lot of chopped & crushed garlic, whether for homemade fries, garlic bread, Thai peanut sauce, or a dozen other things. I've tried using those garlic crushers--the ones that look like a mutated pair of pliers--but they're too difficult to clean out. I've lately settled on using the back of a knife to crush the cloves along the fibers, and then mincing the results. The results are good, but labor-intensive.This device is a *bit* easier than that. Put in 2-4 small cloves; push down to crush while twisting to force the pulp through the grating holes into the receptacle. It works fine, though I still have to use a knife to push residual pulp through the holes, as it sticks as it goes through.Fortunately, it's easy to clean by just rinsing off under a spray faucet. The receptable is designed to remove and put into the fridge for easy storage for later use. There's even a rubbery lid that cleverly gets stored on the bottom of the device when not in use.

So disappointed with thisDoesn't really work unless you chopped the garlic and peppers to begin withIt is well built and cleans relatively easyIt did crush part of the garlic, but didn't do a half way decent job without chopping it and not leaving it in cloves like they sayI used it for small chili peppers with the same results if you leave them whole they just mash and block the holes to the bottomIf you had a small amount to do and didn't mind the extra step of chopping your food first then this is okay. But honestly I think a small food processor that cost $10-20 more would be a better deal

This handy little device will help you make quick work of crushing garlic for cooking. It's quicker and easier than using a garlic press or chopping garlic with a knife, efficiently crushing 2 or 3 cloves of garlic at a time while keeping your hands clean. Like a garlic press, you get more of the sharp raw allicin taste in your garlic than you get by using a knife. While that's fine for cooked garlic, I wouldn't use this garlic crusher for garlic that's in anything to be eaten raw. It's essential that you use the device correctly. After putting two or three cloves of peeled garlic in the upper chamber, you must put the top on and then PRESS DOWN FIRMLY ON THE TOP TO PRE-CRUSH THE GARLIC before you start twisting the top. If you do this, you'll get nicely minced garlic falling into the collection chamber. If you forget to pre-crush the garlic, you'll get a wet messy paste that sticks to the grinding chamber and the top, and an empty collection chamber. So don't forget to do it.Used properly, this is quick, convenient, dishwasher-safe way to process garlic. I just may retire my garlic press.
