The colors are off and the audio is out of sync, but this was a cheap way to interface an old standard definition video switch and camera system at my church with a laptop for livestreaming. Acceptable of budget is thedeciding factor. Audio and video show up as separate devices to the computer, which is why they arent in sync. Some video capture/streaming software may be able to correct the audio sync issue.

My newest television set has inputs for Composite cables and HDMI cables, but no native way to plug in Component cables. I have a wire to plug a PSP into a TV to output the display to the television screen, but as it's a YPbPr cable, it was going to need a converter to work properly with this new TV. At first I tried ordering a different converter, which was more of a box. The one I tried using first did not work for me. This one, however, gets the job done just fine. The converter comes with a USB wire for power, a plug to insert the USB wire into a power outlet, and even an HDMI cable, which is rather nice. I tested the included supplies and all of them were in working order. You can plug the device into the TV and a power outlet and it will work as intended. I already had my own HDMI cable ready for the adapter, and I wanted to plug the USB power wire directly into a surge protector I own with slots to power USB, that way I didn't need to use up a regular outlet. I used my own wire to plug this adapter into an HDMI switcher I own (one of those ones where you can insert multiple HDMI cords into one TV slot) and it works splendidly with my setup. This adapter isn't specific to the PSP, and should in theory work with any component cables. But since I wanted to use a PSP for myself and I had a hard time finding reviews online which mentioned it specifically--and since the first one I tried didn't work despite also being advertised as for PSP--I wanted to leave my own review in case it helps anyone. There is an on/off switch on the device which will need to be in the "on" position for the device to work. When it is receiving power, you can see a little green light inside of the device by looking through slots on one side. This will help you to troubleshoot your adapter if you have any problems setting it up, but it isn't intrusive or noticeable at all otherwise, which I'm sure some people will like. This converter also doesn't do much to upscale the picture for you. If you've used the component cable for a PSP before, even when the menu is full-screen, games might typically run with a black border around the screen. The "zoom" display option on my television helps to mitigate this. There is still a black outline, but it's much better. I've heard of adapters which are specifically designed to fill your screen with the PSP game image, but this one is a small fraction of the cost. If you're a casual player and you just want your game to look nice, this is a great option, in my opinion. The colors, sound, etc. all seem great to me with no hiccups, and if there's any latency or lag then it wasn't noticeable to me. Just make sure that if you're using a PSP like me that you navigate to Settings -> Connected Display Settings -> Switch Video Output whenever you'd like to use it.Make no mistake, this is a relatively cheap, unbranded product, and as with anything, you get what you pay for. But that said, I think it's a great value for the $20 price tag and it comes with a nice little box and instructions and all the wires you need, so it's more serviceable than the cheapest options on the market. If it sounds to you like it'd fit your needs, I'd say go for it. 5 stars from me. Does what I need it to do, works as expected, zero problems, so I'm happy.

We have a Avermedia C027 capture card in our computer at church and needed to start doing live streaming like everyone else. We used the HDMI input for the camera and wanted to be able to show the slides too. The Tripp-Lite B126-004 has an HDMI monitor output, so bought a HDMI to component adapter first. Well turns out with this card the component capture is shared with the HDMI capture, so had to use either s-video or composite.Fry's only had a HDMI to composite adapter so we bought that. It was alright, but some slides looked awful with it. Was trying to decide whether to spend more money and get another HDMI capture card, or try s-video. Since we're on a small church on a budget went with the latter by purchasing this adapter. Wow, what a difference! It looks so much cleaner, colors are better, and the text is sharper too. Very happy with it.I bought this adapter since they had the foresight to put a male plug on it instead of a female plug, the latter would require a male-male cable in between and we didn't need that since the computer is maybe 2 feet away from the switch box and the HDMI cable covers that distance. I think having a shorter s-video cable connection helps with signal integrity too.The only problem I ran into is the little plastic alignment pin was too big for the female connector on the capture card cable, but some needle nose pliers took care of that. After breaking it off it plugged in a-ok and off we went. This only has a 4-pin s-video plug, and our capture card is 4-pin too.I first hooked up all the video connections and then powered this on. Selected the s-video input in the crossbar section in OBS and up popped the image, it was that easy. I plugged this into a USB port on the computer to power it and it seemed fine, but I did end up using the provided 1A USB supply just to be safe.If you are going to use it for the same thing be sure the slides or whatever you are displaying is in 16:9 format. You'll still get a small black frame around the picture but not as bad as 4:3 is.

I'm using the 'S' video connection and find it has a much better screen than when I was using a component connection. I only gave 4 stars for 'easy to install' because I had to play around some to finally get the end result that I wanted. I still don't know why, but at first I was getting a real loud 'buzz' no matter whether I used the S-video or the component connection, or whether it was set on PAL or NTSC. I felt that neither of those two settings should have any effect on the sound, but that was the only thing I was able to change on this unit. Also disconnected/connected/changed every wire/cable to this converter. At some point the buzzing stopped and hasn't come back in the month that I've had it connected now.Forget what I wrote above. I had to send this converter back and order a different one. The above review was for a Tendak converter that I am now using. But I have to confess that this one may have been alright. I sent it back due to the 'buzz' that I mentioned in the above review. When the 2nd one did the same thing, I spent more time trying to solve the problem. So this one may have worked also, if I had spent more time with it.
