The dual charging options—solar and USB—are incredibly convenient. It charges quickly in direct sunlight, but the USB charging is faster for emergencies. This solar camping light doubles as a power bank, which is a lifesaver for charging my phone in the wilderness. It also has multiple lighting modes,

TLDR: Everything on this lantern works well, except the most important part for camping/weather emergency - the solar charging. The solar charger doesn’t work, on two separate lanterns.I ordered one and could not get the lantern to charge, after days in the sun. I ordered a replacement. It is exactly the same.Charging via the USB works great. The lantern runs about 4.5hrs on one charge. And each setting on the lantern, is pretty consistent with this (I didn’t test the flashing light. I’m assuming it is less.).The lantern is perfectly designed for camping, in every way, except the solar charging. It weights almost nothing. It was left out overnight, in heavy rain, and continues to work. It has a variety of excellent lighting options, including a bright, flashing light, to attract help. However, after repeated attempts, two separate lanterns won’t charge via the solar panel well enough to even get an hour of lighting from it.If you want a lantern to use, in a location where you have a reliable source to recharge it via the USB, it’s excellent for that. I am going to keep the second one, because the light works so well just as a USB lantern/flashlight. But since the solar charging doesn’t not work, this drastically reduces this lanterns use, for camping more than one night.

If you’re looking for a nice, rechargeable medium sized lamp you should consider this one.First, I have to mention the instructions…. Seriously ,why bother? It’s pretty much just a spec sheet with some pictures. To be fair it’s pretty straightforward. One button, a usb port and a hook. The light has multiple modes you go through by pushing the button. It has 3 lantern and 2 spotlight modes. The light has a power meter and a red light to indicate it’s charging via the small solar panel. I’m not sure how well the solar panel charges, but it is functional. Not always a given. I’ll run it down and see then update this review with the operational time and recharge rates for plug in and solar. I want to break in the battery first (cycle it a few times). When charging via the usb-c port the meter operates like a standard battery “guage”. The solar panel should be good for at least topping off the battery, but we will have to see how good it does on a fully drained battery. The light output is adequate for a small to medium area. It’s perfect for a tent or a power outage. The lantern doesn’t really have a dimmer. You just choose a coolish white, a warmer hue, or both for the highest brightness. The base doubles as a spotlight. (sorry “Headlight”;) It must be used independently from the top portion. It actually has a good brightness and beam pattern for distance viewing. Not super great as a floodlight. The spot light also flashes for signaling. The construction is ok, but not what I would call rugged. It should be adequate for normal usage. The base “spotlight” has a glass lens. So keep that in mind when placing it. On one hand the glass is much more scratch resistant. On the other it is much more apt to break. Keep in mind, you don’t bang a gas or propane lantern around either, before you cast judgement. At least this won’t burn your tent down if it falls over. Speaking of which it’s not super stable, so try to keep it on a somewhat flat surface. They do not list any ip rating, only list it as “Waterproof”. The base unscrews and I found no waterproofing. If submerged even partially there is a good chance you would get water in the base lamp assembly. I wouldn’t leave it out in a serious rain.Overall, my first impressions are good. At its price point there’s really not much out there better with the better functionality. I have no issue recommending this light. It puts out a good amount of light, is very functional/versatile and does offer some level of solar charging capability. The biggest improvement I would recommend, would be to add some weight and some level of waterproofing to the base, and maybe rubberize it, to give it a bit more stability. Oh, and instructions….. If I have any issues I’ll let you know.

I really like this camping lantern, especially for the occasion power outages after a storm. Instead of finding a bowl of water for some tea lights to provide just a little light, I can use this lantern without worry about the risk of fire. The chips and the 4 tungsten wires make this a bright light. It helps that they reflect the light off of a polished chrome surface. The flexibility in lighting levels is great to have, as is the ability to swivel the bottom spotlight.I will not miss the heft of a battery powered lantern, as this one is light as well as bright. Being able to charge the battery during sunlight, makes this an indispensable part of the emergency gear for storm season anywhere. The manual doesn’t describe it anywhere, but the blue power display lights change to red, when the unit is off and the solar charger is charging the battery - see photo.
