These are the second pair of Hot Chillys Microfleece Bottoms that my son has owned. When sending him out skiing on bitter cold days in the northeast these are my go to base layer. I find he complains of being too hot if I try to layer any more than just these under his Spyder ski pants even on the coldest of days. My son is almost 8 and average height, but he's skinny with a long torso. The x-small actually fit him, but are way too short. The medium, which according to the size chart should fit him, are WAY too big and literally fall down. I'll keep the medium for when he does grow into them, but I'll be purchasing the small for now.

Super warm! Love, love this when you need to keep your child warm. I bought this for a base layer for my 10 year old daughter to wear under her ski pants, to ski in temperatures about 15 - 40sF. She wore them on her first ski trip and it was cold, but these kept her warm. The only complaint that she has had is that the inner seam bothers her. We may have the send it back because of the seam rubbing her skin. If your child isn't wearing it for a high energy activity like skiing, they may work out for you fine.
