I've used a couple different griphoist brand wire pullers with our local trail organizations, but kept searching the used listings since I just couldn't justify the full high price to put one in my shed. When this came up for a great price, I bought it. The only problem was it didn't come with a cable, and the Jet cables weren't available separately at the time, so I had to pick up a "7/16" cable here. 7/16 is much more rare than 3/8" or 1/2", so there weren't many choices. I bought "Mophorn Winch Cable 7/16Inch x 100Ft Replacement Wire Rope 4400LBS Fiber Core Self Locking Swivel Hook", and it seemed to work, along with actually being 130 feet, which added weight but gave some extra length for really long pulls. It worked ok for some smaller things, but when we used it on the trail to move a 2000lbs rock this year, it was pulling forward on the forward stroke, and letting off on the return stroke. I took it apart, lubed it, and tried it on some roots. I hit the same issue. Then I took a pair of calipers to the wire, and found out it was really 3/8", not the 7/16" I had ordered! The Jet cable is now available here, so I bought a length, and it actually is 7/16". We just used it on the trail with a 1000lbs rock, and it worked great. The unit itself is about 28lbs, the handle is about 5 lbs, and the Jet wire and basket is about 25lbs. All 3 on the scale, and with only one spare shear pin taped on, the scale said 59.8 lbs.Make sure you have the right cable. The handle seems heavy for what it is. The only negative I have with the unit is that the cover on the handle popped off and the spare shear pins fell. I found 3 and taped one of them to the side, but another 1 or 2 must be hidden under something. This wire puller makes it easy to pull heavy things, and easy to pull or release. It doesn't look as slick as a griphoist, but it's only 10-20% of the cost. There are many of these clones out there, and I've recommended a different one to some friends, but this is the one I have used and personally tested.
