Our builder installed the first tub, we noticed Numerous scratches in the surface, especially around the top. Then we noticed a blue-ring around the bottom (poor or incomplete finishing). We were told it was a defective tub. The supplier sent a second tub, when we inspected the tub it had the same exact issues. When we went back and looked at our original picture of the tub in our hotel room (the reason we originally picked the tub) it appears to have the same blue-ish ring. It is subtle but it is there and once you know it, you will not forget it. How could 3 different tubs all have the same defect? We have yet to hear from a Kohler rep. It is no small feat installing a 300 lb drop in tub or de-installing it. Their limited warranty does not cover labor or damages.

Drain always breaking

We installed 5 of the T42 tubs in our project, against professional advice, and it turns out the pros really knew their stuff-After a month the first drain failed, and after three years the only one still functioning is the one in the guest bath. That one still works (and we're only guessing it still works, we haven't dared actually try it) because no one has used the tub for a bath, only showers.Take it from one foolish enough not to listen, if you're thinking of using Kohler: think again. If you go ahead and buy, don't blame Kohler (and they could care less) blame yourself.Ha!

Do NOT buy this! The drain is horrible! I have two of these and the stop doesn't pop up!

The mechanism to open/close the drain is beyond sensitive. It's so poorly designed that I'm surprised it stays intact at all. Kohler service reps are annoying, not so much because their only advice was to take the drain apart, but because their tone suggests it's a user problem. I asked if they had bothered reading all of the online reviews of this junk and, of course, they said 'no'. Wonderful experience. I'll be sure to never buy a Kohler product again, unless it's for the plumber that recommended this crap.

This is a nice looking and deep tub yet the drain system is terrible. The drain gets stuck down and is almost impossible to open. This happened almost as soon as I bought it and I figured how to delicately operate it. However if someone else touches it it gets stuck. My tub is full or water now that I can't drain. I was warned by the sales rep not to buy Kohler because their products had so many complaints. Wished I had listened. There are other tubs out there that are better quality and cheaper. Don't make the same mistake I did.

We bought two of the Kohler tea for two jacuzzis and were very happy with them. Then, someone (don't know who) pulled the plugs out of them. Now, we can't join the plug that holds the water with the device that opens and closes them, rendering BOTH baths inoperable. I can't find any information on how to fix them or get the thing hooked up again. Immensely frustrating, to have spent that amount of money and be unable to operate what should be a simple plug and drain system.
