I got these for camping and each of the four kids each got to have one in their tents. They really enjoyed having their own little lantern. They are small and compact. Great brightness too!

These little flashlight/lamps are just adorable and surprisingly useful. They put out a lot of light; the lantern mode can easily light up a room enough to avoid tripping over stuff. Pressing the button multiple times to toggle between 3 settings (bright/dim/flashing) every time is a little unnecessary, but I guess it's nice to have options. The glow-in-the-dark plastic part is pretty much a silly gimmick but it's cute. Another company (everbrite) makes a nearly identical flashlight, clearly from the same mold, but their version has a rubbery coating on it, which will almost certainly start to degrade over time and get sticky; this glow-in-the-dark one is just smooth plastic, so I actually consider that a plus.I keep these stashed all over the house because you never know when you might need one. Batteries are included but not pre-installed. I definitely recommend them and I'll probably end up ordering more.

Neat little flashlight small lantern! These are very small and not the best made, that said they do work! Basically you have a small flashlight and a lantern in one. It will also do a strobe and it will glow for a few minutes after you turn it off. It does not put out a lot of light, think something like a night light. These would be great for something like giving to the kids that are not ready for a real flashlight or lantern, yet would give them a little light without a worry about loosing them. Would also be good to use in place of candle or something when you have a power outage and just need enough light to move around the house or something. These would be questionable to use for reading for long periods or playing games by, that it is usable for that, just not idea.

Given how small and lightweight these are, I was surprised by how much light they produce! Our attic has no light, and we've been finding ourselves going up there to grab things more often than we expected lately. We have some solar lanterns for emergencies, but we don't always have them charged up, so I wanted something battery-operated that we don't have to keep charged (via sunlight or outlet) and can take up to that attic with us. These are great for that purpose! They're light enough to throw in our pockets and give off enough light to get what we need out of there. We don't even need all 4, but I threw one in each of our nightstands, just to have. The glow-in-the-dark functionality isn't particularly relevant for us, as all of these will be inside almost exclusively, but it does kick in fast (just seconds of the lantern being on make the top of the lantern glow in the dark for a couple of minutes once the light is off)!

I generally believe that it's impossible to have too many flashlights so am always interested in picking up new ones to try out so I snagged this 2-pack of flashlights/lanterns.Right out of the box, it's nice to see that they included batteries- since so many things these days use rechargeable batteries it's always a bit of shock when I get a flashlight that doesn't use them AND doesn't have batteries with it. The flashlight uses 3 AAA batteries- which seems like more than it seems like would be necessary for what this light can do.The flashlight is pretty much entirely plastic, with mostly translucent white plastic on the outside and some black on the inside as part of the lantern setup. Unfortunately the plastic does feel pretty cheap- I may be a bit spoiled though with pretty much everything I've gotten lately being much more solid metal. There's a button on the end to turn it on and off and cycle through High/Low/Flash, and the focus can (somewhat) be adjusted by pulling out the opposite end of the light. This is also how you get it to 'lantern' mode too- pulling it all the way out results in more light coming out the sides of the tube than the end. It has a hook on the end you pull out as well to allow you to hang it up... honestly I might have thought the hook would be better on the end with the button, but it does work. Finally, as they note in the description, the plastic around the lantern section is made from a plastic that will absorb light and glow for a while when the flashlight is turned off. It's not a HUGE feature, but it's not a bad one either- it will make the light easier to locate in the dark (assuming it's not been too long and it's not glowing any more).Overall this isn't a bad flashlight- it does just feel a bit cheap, but at $10 for 2 of them (as of writing this review), it also is pretty inexpensive so expecting much more may not be reasonable. If you need a few extra lights/lanterns this isn't a bad choice.
