When I tested this scale against the included 500 gram reference weight, the scale measured 500.53 grams. I proceeded to read the manual to learn how to calibrate the device, but the instructions require reference weights that are not included with the product. For the 3000 gram version of the scale, the instructions say that three reference weights are required: 3000 gram, 2000 gram, and 1000 gram. You will need all of them in order to complete the calibration process. For the 5000 gram version of the product, you will need FIVE reference weights: 5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, and 1000 grams.

Scale comes boxed with top plate needing to be screwed down prior to placing weight plate in place. Out of the box, weight accuracy for the 500gr calibration weight was pretty much spot on. Weighed some items I had already known the weights of and it was accurate to my known data. Comes with power cord that unplugs and can be stored away with scale when not in use.

This scale seems very finely tunedāsuper accurate, at least based on initial impressions. I havenāt done a side-by-side comparison with my older model yet, but it already feels like a big upgrade. Came well-packaged with a solid instruction booklet, which was a nice touch. Feels sturdy in hand and built to last. Functionality is on point, and overall, the quality definitely shines through.

This is a sturdy and versatile scale. Although designed for scientific use, you could use it however you want. It measures in various units. It is heavier than your average postal or kitchen scale.Mine did require calibration on setting up, which can be expected from jostling during shipping. The scale comes with a 500g calibration weight ( which another scale I have confirmed weighed exactly 500.00g). It was a little confusing since the directions referred to other weight values for calibrating. But it took the weight and accurately calibrated. A big plus is the rechargeable battery so that you donāt need an outlet to power it up.

It's heavy duty but needs to be calibrated. I was surprised with the weight. Seems industrial and heavy.Good for homeschool.
