This is a nice hefty notebook with hard front and back covers on a set of double spiral binding.There aren't a lot of designs other than the large "notes" imprinted on the front and the branding on the lower back. The single rubber band from the back cover is used to wrap the notebook shut when not in use. The covers are plain paper instead of plastic, so it's a smooth texture. Be careful around water.There is no bookmark ribbon due to the spiral binding. The pages themselves don't have a lot of designs. A "date" and "page" section are on each page, and that's about all there is. The paper is of sturdy 100 GSM quality with a very slight yellow tint (corn silk).The back has a transparent plastic insert with two pockets on each side. This is an interesting choice instead of an expandable pocket glued on the inside of the back cover. Unfortunately, without that pocket, the places where the rubber band is secured to the back cover can clearly be seen, unsightly as they are.Overall, this is a solid notebook. As mentioned, the paper covers are not waterproof in general, so it may need some careful placement and consideration.

This notebook is a great value for the money ($8.99 at the time of review). The first thing I noticed is the heavy cardboard covers are stiff enough to provide a steady, flat surface for writing while holding the notebook. The inclusion of an elastic strap to keep it closed and a double-sided plastic pocket in the rear are nice extras.On to the writing test, using a gel pen whose ink is prone to smear a bit on most papers. The pen ran smoothly over the paper and, with a couple seconds of drying times, running my finger of the text resulted in barely noticeable smearing. While there was zero bleed through with this pen, I could see it being an issue with “wetter” ones. Over all, good quality paper.[Disclosure: I received this product for “free”—in quotes because the IRS requires I pay federal income tax on the retail value. I get to try out a lot of different things through the Amazon Vine program and especially like notebooks, journals and writing instruments. Without even realizing it, I selected another Taja notebook, this one with a wire binding and just love it. They have a design approach that really appeals to me, but when I received the notebook and saw the company name on it, I went "oh hooray" in my head, because I've always been very pleased with their stationary products. Still, even with high expectations, I went upstairs and did my usual testing routine. How well does it lay flat? (well!) Will the wire binding be a hindrance or catch on my clothes? (No). Can pages be slipped out of this type of wire binding?(yes). Is this higher end 100gsm paper that minimizes writing shadows on the reverse side of a written upon page, or lower end? (definitely higher end). What kind of organizational options are offered to help me keep my writing organized and allow references to earlier writing? (table of contents, date field, page number field). Is there anything a bit annoying that can't easily be removed? (no - the super sturdy and thick plastic back pocket can come out from the wire binding if it starts to annoy me). How sturdy is the cover?(Very!). Does this look more professional use or personal use ? (professional)Then there's the basic stuff. I like sturdy covers with plenty of pages. The colors offered suit my tastes. The paper is very smooth the write on, which is less than ideal for using colored pencils with it, so perhaps I won't use this as a journal. But this very smooth paper is a blessing when you are trying to write notes quickly during lectures and seminars - so it's definitely going in my "study notebooks" pile and it's more professional looking appearance is well matched to that goal as well.

I mean what do you say about a notebook? It makes a fairly decent journal. I haven't had any issues with my pen bleeding through the pages. It's thick, it's supported. I have no complaints.

I gave this to my mom because she is always writing stuff down. She loves the color and how thick and hearty the notebook is. No ink bleed on pages from any type of pen. I was really impressed at the quality, that I low key wanted to keep it for myself, that how good it is. LOL! It's great that its made from recycled paper. It has a nice secure strap to keep it from opening if dropped or even can be used as a bookmark.

This journal is good quality, light cream color, college ruled, and resists ink bleed through which is great since I like to use fountain pens - only a little bleeding when heavy handed. it has an elastic closure and hard covers. it does have a plastic pocket sleeve in the back and this has a TON of pages so it will last a long time!!! took off a star because the coil is deformed so it is hard to open it and turn the pages which is a bummer

I got this for an everyday journal and it works perfectly for that. This also comes with a table of contents and allows you to add page numbers at the bottom so you can locate any of your work. While it is a pretty large journal it would fit easily in a tote bag, a briefcase, or a backpack to carry along with you. It is a great value for the price and I would definitely recommend this journal to anyone who either is a writer, needs to take notes, journals, and more!

I am always in need of a new journal and when I saw this one, I wanted to give it a shot. The cover is great and the elastic that keeps it closed is snug with a good deal of snap to it. The pages are thick and feel great. I love that it has a table of contents in the beginning in case you need to look up something specific later on. This is a great journal and I am really happy to have ordered it.
