I bought 2 of this for my girls (homeschooled). They are 5 and 3 and although its a bit high for the 3 year old a cushion easily remedies the problem. She can use it with out it and sometimes does but I like her to be a bit higher. They love the desk and I really like them too but they are not perfect. On one of the chairs the wood was a bit splintered underneath the sit where the screw was inserted. Both screws on that particular side would not tighten. This was easily fixed by my husband, he made 2 new holes and inserted new screws. The other thing is that both desks and one of the chairs were not properly leveled (not so much as to cause problems but still...). I bought some felt mats to put underneath and correct this. I read a review complaining about the black board. I'm not sure what their problem might be.... although it is not a traditional black board, but a black board painted surface, it works perfectly. We have used it with Crayola chalks and also the Ikea ones and both work like a charm. I'm actually glad its not the traditional black board cause it doesn't look as dull once repeatedly used. The storage space is great you can store lots of stuff in there. My girls have multiple books, markers, scissors, glue and other stuff and it all fits perfectly. It is all wood except for the board and the chairs are very sturdy (the desk not as much as the chairs but still not cheap). I bought this when the price was $77 and they are worth every penny. I cant give it 5 stars because of the flaws but I would certainly buy them again and recommend them.

I ordered two desks for my twin 3 1/2 year old girls. They are enrolled in the Kumon enrichment program so they have worksheets to do every single day. I really wanted to order desks in order to provide a very specific place that is especially designated for homework, only. Previously we were using the kitchen table. The desks were extremely easy to put together. It comes with a little allen wrench, wooden dowels and screws. All you need is scissors to open the packaging and you are good to go. Took about half an hour from start to finish. In fact, on the second desk I had both of the girls "help" me. I read the directions and they would bring me the necessary number of screws and dowels. :) VERY solid pieces of wood. I was tightening the screw of a piece on one chair when I cracked the wood, but it was probably more my fault for overtightening than faulty product(I'm a short little Mommy, so it doesn't take much or a 200 lb Daddy to tighten too hard and crack the wood lol). I didn't run into any issues like previous posters where I had to custom create some parts. Everything came together perfectly. The twins are IN LOVE with the desks. Since I only allow them to sit at it for homework time, they always want and beg to do homework so they can sit at their desks. Each girl is about 3 feet tall. Their feet do not touch flat on the floor but its not uncomfortable at all. They wiggle around so much at that age anyways :). So I know they have some room to grow. In fact, when I was assembling the desk, there are two sets of screw holes on the side of the desk. The direction illustrate to screw in the legs of the desk at the higher set of holes. Although there is no notes in the directions as to the purpose of the second row of screw holes...I am assuming that maybe if we wanted to adjust the desk and screw in the legs into the bottom row of screw holes, that it would then make the desk higher for when the child is taller. I will post pictures so you can see how an average (well one is average size and the other a little underaverage size) 3 1/2 year old fits in the desk.

I bought this desk based on style, price, and reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. I wanted a small kids' desk for my 6 and 4 year olds. I really liked the idea of the blackboard surface, and I loved the price. It was one of the least expensive desks in the style I wanted, and from the pictures, I liked it better than the more expensive ones.Shipping was fast (esp with Amazon Prime) and I had it on my doorstep in 3 days from the night I ordered it.Putting it together was a snap, and I did it by myself late at night. I think this was probably the easiest thing I've ever assembled. I got out my electric drill/screwdriver figuring it would help me speed up the process of installing the screws. Then I got out the hardware and discovered that all of the screws (a total of 12 - so not a lot) were not your typical phillips or flat... they were made specifically for the hex key (included). I didn't have a hex bit for my screwdriver, so I assmbled it just with what was included in the kit. The screws went in quickly - It took an average of just 6-8 revolutions with the hex key to completely screw in each screw. The desk itself comes in just 4 pieces: the body of the desk is one piece which is great since you don't have to put any of that together. Most of the other pieces come packaged up inside the main part of the desk. The other three pieces for the desk are just the sides and the cross bar in the back. It takes a total of 6 screws and 2 dowals to assemble the desk itself. I had it unwrapped and together in 10 mins. The chair is more complicated than the desk because you have to hold the two smaller back cross pieces in place (dowals only, no screws) while you screw the sides onto the seat, and screw the large back cross piece into place on the sides. It also has more dowals than the desk. But this wasn't that big of a deal either. just put the dowals in place, assemble everything and then do the screws for one side, flip it over, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be and then screw in that side too. Easy. The chair took me about 15 mins, maybe less. I wasn't timing myself, nor was I hurrying. At the end I took 4 little stick-on felt pads I already had on hand and put them on the back of the desk so that the wood of the desk wouldn't scrape against the wall. The desk fits both of my kids great. At first I was afraid the desk would be too short for my son because it looked kind of small to me. The desk gives you the option of one of two sets of holes to screw the sides into - the top holes are about 1.25" above the bottom set of holes (but due to the design the non-used holes are hidden by the sides regardless of which holes you chose, so no aesthetic issues there). I chose the set of holes that would make the desk the tallest. Then after I got it assembled I sat down at it myself. It was cramped for me (I'm 5'6"), but I could actually get my own legs under it. That's when I knew this would not be a problem. I had him sit down at it this morning and it looked quite comfortable and roomy. The desk is quite sturdy, nicely designed and made (hardwood, no particle board), and the chalk board is good quality too. The lifting lid for storage space is great, and the channel at the top for pencils is nice too. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and the seller. Great desk, and great experience.
