Well made, but a waste of money. Shaking the grinds before puck prep is overrated.

For the price there is no other tool like this with the quality this has. The fitment of parts is perfect.

Great for the price, but the finish causes a lot of retention due to grounds sticking to the sides of the shaker. The middle piece is really poorly designed with the large indentation. I know it is meant to store the middle section on the side of the cup section (as in the product images), but first of all: why does anyone need to store it like that? Secondly, it traps a ton of grounds inside of the cut out when shaking.Overall, good value for the price, but you get what you pay for.

I love this shaker but you really need to use a portafilter funnel. It fits a 51mm to 54mm portafilter but it's not easy to use in that configuration because the portafilter will be overfilled (depending on the amount of coffee you use, of course). I use 16 - 18 grams of beans and in a 51mm portafilter, the grounds are so fluffy the portafilter is overfilled and when you remove the shaker, the grounds go everywhere! Just place your portafilter funnel as you normally would and then empty the shaker over the funnel. It's amazing how fluffy and clump free the coffee grounds are. I then WDT just to evenly distribute the top, then (very important) a couple of light taps of the portafilter on your tamping mat, then remove the funnel and give it a good tamp and I have my "elixir fix" in no time. One thing...you'll produce a little static during your shake. If you remove the lid, you'll see quite a lot stuck to the inside of it. Before you open it, hold the sides of the shaker and keep your finger on the lid, then smack the shaker lightly (down) onto your knockbox or tamping mat or whatever. This will dislodge the grounds from the inside bottom of the lid (most of them) and you're all set to empty the contents into your portafilter. Nice invention and according to science, you'll get better extraction than just using WDT...or any other distribution device.

Like many on Amazon, I was also intrigued after watching Lance Hedrick’s video on YouTube. Unfortunately when I got this, the bell is too short to make contact with the lid so you’re unable to shake at all without the Bell coming loose and spilling everything. The packaging looked brand new so I’m not sure if this is a design issue or I just received the wrong Bell that goes with the 58 mm. I requested a replacement and I’ll update my review if the issue is resolved.

There are so many different tests of techniques to remove clumps & improve distribution. I've watched many of the You Tube videos & results varied. The original shaker was far more expensive than the MHW-3BOMBER & gets kudos for bringing the idea to market. This version does the same job, possibly with a slightly less polished interior, but the results are the same & the price is far less.
