This product would probably work just fine in a newer valve body. I bought the cartridge, puller, and this retaining clip. I tried to use this clip once I cleaned up the valve body and inserted the new cartridge. This one would not seat into the valve body. The original copper/bronze retainer cleaned up nicely and seated with no issues. I am happy I bought this because I replaced 3 cartridges expecting to break one of the old retainers. Luck was on my side this time. I would recommend anyone replacing a cartridge (or 3) pick one of these up as insurance. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Good product fr a good seller. Recommend!

Had two baths that would only run crazy hot water. I know nothing about plumbing but was able to change the cartridges. Without this little clip you’re going to have problems. For some reason ours didn’t have the clip and when I tried it without the clip all types of water was leaking from the faucet.

Excellent replacement clip. I lost my original down inside the wall when I attempted to remove Moen Positemp rough-in Valve. The valve stuck so tightly I had to purchase a "removal tool" for Moen 1222 cartridges. This worked perfectly, but then I had to replace the clip before it could be utilized. I bought 2-of them so next time I work on a client's shower faucet I will have the proper clip on-hand.
