The remote that comes with this unit appears to be very cheap. When you push the buttons, sometimes they stick down and then pop back up. Batteries do not fit in nicely... and on top of that, it doesn't even work at all! This is not necessarily a deal breaker for me, but may be for many so I have to take 2 stars off for that. Tried to call the Orei customer service number several times but never an answer and can't leave a message... do better Orei. If you look at their products' ratings, they have many in the 4.0-4.2 star range indicating there are a fair amount of people that have issues. So it's reasonable to say your mileage may vary.Be advised the unit arrives with auto-switching activated. So when the current device is removed or shut off it automatically switches to the next active device.IMPORTANT (not in manual): To shut auto-switching off press and hold the 'select' button until the 'auto' light goes off.I had a 30ft HDMI cable going bad and unfortunately this was one a few devices that would not drive my projector through it. So I got a new cable and now the switcher seems to be working fine. I cannot speak to it's abilities switching/passing 4K as my setup is currently only 1080P, but being compliant with the HDMI 2.1 standard is recommended moving forward. I will be getting a 4K projector very soon and will report back if there are any issues. I am using the optical output of the audio extractor and it seems to be doing a good job of passing 5.1 audio as well.

This review is for the OREI brand of 4 in, 1 out HDMI switch (8K resolution). This switch has all the bells and whistles including EDID selector, remote, audio extraction to either 3.5" or optical jacks, and a USB port for firmware upgrades (although I could find any firmware downloads on their website. I have a pretty sizable collection of mini PCs, towers, and Macs, so this comes in quite handy. It has a nice quality feel to the build as has been my experience with other OREI products. Highly recommend.

I really like this HDMI switch. I’m using it to connect my Xbox and two PCs all into one monitor, and it works exactly how I hoped. Switching between devices is quick, and the picture stays sharp whether I’m playing in 4K or something lower. I didn’t notice any weird delays or anything, and everything looks great on screen. What I also like is that it lets me run the sound out to my speakers without messing around with my TV or monitor settings. It comes with a remote, but I usually just use the button on the front super simple. The case feels solid, not like those cheap plastic boxes, and everything worked right out of the box. If you’ve got a bunch of devices and want to avoid constantly swapping cables, this is a great tool to have.

This has made our exposed media area much more organized, which makes my wife happy. The Blu-ray player and multiple game consoles are all plugged in at once, and we no longer have to switch out the HDMI cable depending on what the family wants to use. It’s a perfect, clean solution that works exactly as it should. The remote is a great touch and makes it even more convenient. Highly recommend if you want to simplify your setup.

The really neat thing about PS5 is it's extremely picky about its functionality with HDMI 2.1 and full support of everything that requires the full 48 Gbps bandwidth. This switch unfortunately doesn't pass the PS5 test, and I'm extremely disappointed because I had high hopes for this switch since Orei is supposedly a real brand and not some foreign knockoff fake cheap product.I have multiple HDMI 2.1 switches daisy chained with all the cables 2.1 certified as well. The PS5 is on the second switch in the chain and works perfectly fine at full 4K 120Hz with HDR and VRR and no reduction in transfer rate running Spiderman: Miles Morales. I tested this Orei switch at the same second position in the chain, and it couldn't handle it at all, it just kept flickering the screen every couple of seconds automatically changing the video settings to try to find a stable throughput. A major problem sign that this switch doesn't have a steady throughput and the rate keeps fluctuating severely.I then tested it as first in the chain with the PS5 still on the second switch in the chain. The PS5 was able to run correctly in this position, but running my PS1 through my RetroTink connected directly to this Orei switch caused the audio to freak out and spike really loudly every couple of seconds, the same rate that the PS5 would flicker. My guess is this comes from poorly designed circuitry and the power adapter isn't properly converting AC to DC, so there's actual oscillating current going through this switch causing the problems. After looking on the Orei website, I think I found the main problem. This switch doesn't do 48 Gbps through each channel. It might as well be false advertising because this switch can't handle the bandwidth needed for a single high throughput connection which is the advertised top end of 8K 60hz or 4K 120Hz with HDR10+."Video Bandwidth: 12Gbps/1200MHz per channel(48Gbps all channels)"
