Sad, Sad, Sad results! Zero germination, not one single plant sprouted. I’ve gardened for 70 years, owned a landscape business for 30.👎👎

I have been purchasing seeds from Outsidepride directly and through Amazon for years with great satisfaction. There is always good germination and you can count on the seeds to be fairly priced. This is my first experience growing Chicory. I am growing the plants for the flowers rather than for the chicory root.

I got these in 2019 and from what I can remember, I tried germinating a pinch of seeds in a nice pot of potting soil and got nothing. I tried again (I tried soaking and fridge stratification) and still got nothing. Exasperated, I just dumped the whole packet in a planter filled with sandy dirt out front, lightly covered them, and left them. I actually got a few chicory plants that way and they've been very hardy and still going to this day (zone 10), so it was worth it.

I got a lot of chicory plants, and also wild lettuce. The lettuce seeds seem to have come withthe chicory, which is a bummer

I can’t wait to see the little flowers start growing on these. I planted them along with my grass so and they’ve already started to grow. I’m excited to see the finish product. I’m pretty sure it’ll be about February March, but they did start to bloom not bloom, but you know.

I ordered these seeds not quite 2 years ago, planted them in the spring. I did two plantings, about 10% of the seeds in my rustic back yard which is partially protected by a five foot fence and is further protected by a big dog inside an electronic fence. This did well, coming up with beautiful blue flowers which open in the mornings and then close and lose color in the afternoon sun. The smaller plants can be used as salad greens (as long as the dog is kept out of then). This planting is reseeding itself down the hill and into the woods. The only trouble is that there are deer in the woods around the house which eat it whenever they can. Down the hill you can see the boundary of the dog's electronic fence, with chicory inside and none outside. They ate it all from the field and the old barnyard where I divided and planted the other 90%. Deer will ignore grass, poison ivy, turnips, other favored plants and eat every single stalk! (People who like watching the deer would probably also like to plant persimmons and hazelnuts.)
