for the money, I feel a little churlish rating them so low. They look a lot like the 'park' brand equivalent, the real difference is that they lack little nubs partially closing the third side. (the park tool claims to be 'four sided' but of course there's a hole for the spoke, so it looks like three sides and two little nubs.) these nubs don't *look* like they do anything. However, I just built up my first wheel on Saturday. in part using this, and I rounded some nipples. I was still able to turn them using the same size 'park' brand tool, I suspect because those little nubs matter a lot more than they look.So... if you are a novice wheelbuilder building your first wheel, here is some advice from what I learned this weekend:1. do some research. You've got calipers. use them to measure the nipple and buy just one really good spoke wrench of the right size.2. bladed spokes are harder to use than they look. I still haven't quite got the tool combination figured out for this one.

I got these to true a couple wheels I had lying around. And not only do they do their job, but they do it quite well, they are great to hold on to, fit easily in between spokes, give you great leverage on the spoke nipple, and are even guided so it's no hassle to quickly put it on to spokes when you have a large number to turn. One warning, though: If you are using the red wrench, chances are you're working on a cheaper wheel, beware that if you are working on cheap nipples that are tough to turn, you have to oil the nipple, otherwise the nipple will strip, and you'll no longer be able to turn it,

I found that these wrenches were nice but not capable of fitting the spokes on my American made trike. I did buy a different wrench (the universal round thing with lots of sizes) that I can use. It would be wise for a manufacturer to post a sizing guide for us amateurs to understand.

I noticed that my bicycle mechanic was using these spoke wrenches, so I asked him if he would show me how to use them. Couldn't be simpler. They work great and are designed well. When you have the right tools, it makes a difficult job so much easier. I find I'm doing repair work on my bike that up to now would have been very difficult without the proper tools. In fact, I wouldn't even try to do the repairs myself especially when it comes to spokes and wheel alignment. These little wrenches will help you keep those spokes at the correct tension and the wheel at the proper alignment. Good preventive maintenance saves a lot of money. These wrenches will pay for themselves many times over.

Avenir Spoke Wrench SetI measured the spoke nipples on my 700cc wheels to be 0.136", and the Avenir 0.136" wrench (Red coated loop) fit perfectly. Within a few minutes, I was able to reduce the lateral runout to an acceptable level on my wheels without stripping/rounding any of the nipples. The quality on the wrenches is exceptional. The only complaint I have is that there's no suitable tool holder. It came shipped with a perforated plastic board and 2 nylon zip ties securing the 3 wrenches to the board. But that is not a real deal breaker as I just toss my bicycle tools into a designated storage area.Overall: 5/5 stars, the price doesn't get any better than this especially at this quality level. If you want to true your wheels or adjust spoke tension, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wrench set.

After buying a new rear rim from my local bike shop, I noticed my rear spokes becoming loose every few rides, having to make the choice of riding to the bike shop every other day and paying someone else to fix the problem or fixing it myself was a no brainer. After looking at several different products, I settled on this Avenir Pro Spoke Wrench Set (for the price you cant beat getting the three separately sized wrenches). They were delivered right on schedule and after having used the wrenches a few times now in my short time owning them they are perfect. The handles make them both easy and comfortable to use. They are small and easy to transport however because of the handles, they aren't so small that they are easily lost in a bag/backpack. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good set of spoke wrenches.

i bought this set for green and red, which are typically appropriate for cheaper wheels. rounding off nipples with a poor fitting tool is a good way to shorten the lifespan of a wheel. I expected these to be low quality based on the price, and they are as good as I expected, no better and no worse.whenever you true a wheel you're unfamiliar with, start with black, if it doesn't fit try green and then red. if you don't go in this order, you may be using the wrong size, increasing the chances of damaging the wheel and the tool.dt and wheelsmith spoke nipples require black wrenches (the smallest common size). I recommend getting park or pedro's if you have a wheel you expect to retrue many times. Get the pedro's with a corner and side entry option if you have high tension wheels.

I've had these spoke wrenches for a couple years and used them irregularly. At first they worked fine when I used them here and there, but in the last few months I started using them more and found they slip and strip nipples. Two nipples on a wheel are now untruable, this is unforgivable. I could probably use some strong pliers to remove and replace the nipple, but a good spoke wrench wouldn't have stripped it in the first place. I just went through Parks catalog and they have a 4 wall spoke wrench that is a couple dollars more which has one more wall than these avenir. They also have an all-metal one which looked super-strong. Avenir made some decent spoke wrench here, I guess, but they aren't suited for heavy use and serious truing. If you want some spoke wrenches for serious work just spend the extra bucks and buy from Park tools.
