This worked perfect in stopping a pin hole leak that I couldn't stop any other way. Recommend for use on any steel tank with a small hole and no pressure

We have an oil tank that after getting it full we had a pinhole leak on the bottom. I tried everything and it was still leaking oil until I got this in after applying it it worked like a charm and saved me hundreds of dollars.

Note that the soft rubber in the middle is about the size of an American penny so the crack needs to be a little smaller in order for it to work. But the magnet is strong when placed on a metal tank so it works perfect for heating oil tanks as a temporary fix.

If you're buying a house or if your kid is buynig a house this thing is a 20 dollar insurance policy that every homeowner should have in their toolbox.A buddy of mine woke up to the smell of diesel/oil fumes in his house one morning and called the oil company. Meanwhile he was putting 5 gallon buckets under the leak in his oil tank to collect the stream of fuel that was pouring out. The repair guy from the oil company came by and put one of these on the outside of the tank at the leak and stopped it instantly. The guy said not only would it stop the leak but it'd save the oil that was in the tank from having to be discarded - so if you want to look at it like 3 dollars a gallon for the fuel that was leaking out at probably 5 gallons an hour - thin thing paid for itself several-fold in one use. It's just a great design and it might not shut off a leak entirely but god forbid if you ever need to use it, it'll buy you some time until the repair guys show up and it'll save you some fuel that might otherwise have gone to waste.

The device is a little tricky to use but once positioned correctly does an amazing job of stopping an oil leak in a home heating oil tank until it cane replaced ... One downside is that once oil gets on the foam seal and magnet it eats away at the adhesive and the foam becomes disconnected from the magnet making it more difficult to use ... all in all however a lifesaver!

Sadly, I did not listen to he reviews on this product. The premise of the product is great, the actual design is faulty. I quickly formulated a homemade solution with a trip to Home Depot after this item arrived using a similar concept. (Cheaper and more efficient I might add.) The magnets on this product are very weak. The product does attach to the metallic surface of the tank, but not strongly enough to compress the rubber foam seal. You have to assist the magnets and push the seal down against the surface of the tank for it to "clamp". The strength of the magnet fails again at this point with the rubber expanding and pulling the magnet off the surface of the tank. The product would be better serviced with more powerful rare earth magnets. This is not a product that I would want to trust with temporarily preventing a potential environmental issue with a leaky oil tank.
