I bought this test because it was supposedly more accurate than Hanna. Tested water today with both kits. Hanna measured at 4.6, so I followed directions on this test for higher nitrates. Completely useless because the jump on that chart is from 4 to 8. Like...seriously? And you're supposed to guess where the number falls? This is great for anyone who runs nitrate below 4, but basically useless above that. Not impressed at all. Even on my ULN system, it gave me a value of .5 to .75 nitrates. Just too random, and the colors don't match. Pink on wheel, while sample water looks more lavender. Wish I hadn't wasted my money.

This kit sucksIt never gives an accurate reading and keeps me guessing where my nitrates are. It’s one of the more expensive nitrate test kits and suitable for nitrates under five without having to mix RO water to dilute anything above 5ppm. I don’t even know why Red Sea makes this. It’s a waste of time and a rip off . Don’t waste your money

This was delivered nearly expired. These are manufactured and sold to last over a year but it arrived with only four months left before expiry. Won’t get the full use for it as advertised. This is the seller’s issue. Not Red Sea. Their products are great.

The test itself is actually very easy to use and highly accurate, that I could not be happier with. My challenge is the true usability of the test being only usable up to 4 ppm. My nitrates definitely migrate above that number and it's hard to tell if it's just a little above or a massive issue without using another test.I would say if you have a very stable tank with little variation from your 2ppm target (or less) then this works. Otherwise make a plan to have a secondary test for those times when the nitrates exceed 4 ppm.

Incredibly accurate, reliable, straightforward. An absolute necessity when using Red Sea NO3=PO4-x...and trust me, I tried being cheap and not buying this nitrate test kit but listen to the instructions, they really have to be used together and when they are the results are worth it.

Well put together test kit, however it did not work. This test kit read high results on the display tank, the premixed salt water, as well as the plain RO/DI water.

I use Salifert and Red Sea test kits to keep an eye on the most important aspect of keeping a healthy marine tank... water parameters. A higher degree of accuracy than Salifert, and I love the easy-to-read color comparator which makes reading the results very easy. It's not hard to establish an accurate result if the color happens to fall between two of the colors on the comparator, either. There are cheaper kits available, but they are not going to be as accurate as RS kits. I won't risk the $$$ I've spent on my saltwater tank, equipment, and inhabitants to cheap, inaccurate test kits. For the best results, you have to use the best kits... period. My tank's worth it. Is yours???
