Existing spout look unsightly or not functional? Replace it! Besides the style and length, the question is whether the existing one uses a threaded connection or is a slip-on. This one is noted as being universal promises both.Alas, that is where things went wrong. For the tub spout I received, I did not see any way for it to be installed on a threaded stub-out. What appears to be a bushing at the end of the pipe adapter is smooth. It seems that the only way this could be installed is to be slipped on over a 1/2" copper pipe or nipple; no options for a 3/4", which is what my existing installation has.Physically, the casting is on the thinner side, but there were no flaws in the chrome finish. However, for calling this "universal" when it's not, 3 stars. Fine for those with a slip-on installation, not so much for those with a threaded installation.
