I did a lot of research before deciding on this bike. Once it arrived I took it to a local bike shop to be put together and fine tuned. I just tried it out for the first time after not having been on a bike for MANY years. I was so impressed with the ease of gear shifting and quick brake response. So quick in fact that you need to be careful. I almost lost control a couple of times. Once I got the feel for easing into them, they worked amazingly well. Overall I highly recommend this bike but with 2 stipulations: One, you need to be a minimum of 5'3" to ride safely. Two, have the bike assembled and adjusted at a bike shop before your first ride. This will ensure your success from the start!

My experience is similar to others that I am reading. The set up/assembly did not go well. Like others, I ended up having to take it to my local bike shop in order to get the derailleurs working well and after a few weeks, the shifting is still a bit iffy. Further, I just broke my first spoke after less than 3 weeks of riding. I am 95% on the road except for one short trail (old railway) with a few bumps. It takes the bumps well. The price was good but if it turns out to not be reliable, the value is only in the "you get what you pay for" category.
