Step 1
Hold the tensiometer firmly, as shown, and place it on the spoke to be measured.
Step 2
Loosen the tensiometer, read the value while the needle is still on the indicator, and compare the spoke tension chart.

I took my chance and rolled the dice on this less expensive alternative to a park tool meter.Very glad I did. I was immediately surprised by the build quality. The thing was solid, didn't feel flimsy at all. Instructions were clear, informative and understandable. I've built a few wheels with it now and must say I don't know what more I could get by spending 5x the price on a park tool.

The scale is not accurate. It is good to see if the spoke tension is consistent but to try to get realistic tension values the chart is useless. You need to calibrate it to a know tension.
