I bought this because there's a non-serviceable fuse in it and my factory latch's fuse had blown, preventing the trunk light from turning on. Within 15 days of ordering this, the latch had failed (but my light still worked). The failure is in its inability to return to the "open and ready to lock again" state. Read on for details...Being a mechanical engineer by day, when it failed, I spent an hour with it in order to get to the root cause and either repair it myself, or be disappointed and write a helpful review for an engineering team to improve their product. The root cause of the failure is in the mechanism that retracts the latch back to the "open and ready to lock again" state. What happens is you pull the truck pop lever in the passenger compartment (driver's side on the floor near the kick panel) and a mechanical wire that's attached to the lever and runs to the trunk, pulls the trunk latch open and releases the trunk lid. At this exact second, the latch is in an "open and not yet ready to lock" state and is therefore unable to re-latch. About 1 second later, the latch is supposed to (key point!) retract by way of an internal spring and toothed gear and return to the "open and ready to lock again" state. At this point, you're able to close your trunk again and the latch connects with the trunk lock pin/hook and is then in a "locked and closed" state. The latch I received refused to retract and get back to the "open and ready to lock again" state. I inspected it and the reason it fails to retract is that it's put together too tightly, pinching the toothed gear and/or the spring is not strong enough to pull past the tightness of the latch housing. This can be resolved by reducing the ft. lbs required to install the rivets - this is the effective solution. An alternate solution would be a stronger spring, but that would add cost to the unit, and I don't believe would add value. Unfortunately, I had already thrown away my factory latch so I was unable to do an engineering comparison between the two - maybe the factor spring is in fact stronger and this designer cut corners to save a few pennies. Sadly, because I was in a pinch (holding my trunk lid closed with zip ties as a temporary solution), I purchased a second unit from this same supplier. The second unit has lasted exactly 2 weeks so far, with no failures yet (but I expect them in the future).Hope this helps someone in engineering.

Easy install worked as good as the OEM latch. Bought this to replace the OEM one that stopped working when I installed a led cargo trunk light.

I had to return this latch, because it didn’t fit right. Instead I bought an original Honda version, and it fit like a glove
