It comes wrapped in plastic and taped with about 40 yards of tape. Unpackaged, there’s no strong plastic smell. The acrylic is clear and has no sharp, unrefined edges. The lock works smoothly and comes with a pair of keys. There are 2 screw-mount holes bored into the back to wall mount it, and the latch turns to stick out of the long groove cut into the…bottom of the box.Sorry? If I wall mount this, and tips are deposited into the slot on the top, then I unlock it from the side…I have to slide open the entire FLOOR of the box to receive my tips. So, essentially, coins, cash and whatever are falling from the bottom as I scramble to open it without losing everything, or I open it with one hand while holding a basket beneath it with the other.Okay, so ignore the wall mount and leave it on a counter. Yeah, one hard squeeze on the sides and that bottom is cracking open like a pistachio shell. It is by no means well-constructed or solid enough to withstand pressure. That lock is mainly for show, honestly.A hard pass, from me. The entire construction is poorly designed, and so weak as to make the lock a pointless addition. This is a dollar store find, and so not worth $20.
