We are using the Zoom F1 to record our Pour Folks channel on youtube. we had the F1 on a cell phone stand which held it fine but wasn't the most professional look. So we replaced the cell phone stand with the Shockmount and a mini tripod. I was surprise by the difference in sound quality. Our voices are much more isolated, not picking up as many other sounds in the bar. The vibration through the counter and the cell holder was really not something I expected to eliminate, beside not realizing it was even there. Great buy and didn't even know we needed it.

I love the F1 but wish it was designed better so that we didn't have to deal with a awkwardly designed mount only good for one accessory. It does hold the F1 well enough but it is slightly awkward to take in and out. It seems like the belt clip has to be removed from the F1 to get the mount to fit right.I found that you can use a cell phone tripod mount/adapter on the F1, however there is no shock absorption.I came close to returning and then the 30 day window passed. I still put it to use but it's more of a necessary evil than anything else. This product does what it is supposed to. It's hard to actually critique the design of the product when the root of the issue with the design of the F1. But that is only an issue when I want/need to mount the recorded and when it's on my belt or pocket it is perfect. Danged if you do, danged if you don't.

This is a great addition and allows me to use the F1 field mic on my DSLR for video. The shock absorber is great.

This thing is very poorly designed. there are 3 main quarks that made me end up returning it.1) first of all its very expensive for what it is. I really believe that they should have just put a 1/4 attach point on the bottom of the unit instead of creating this proprietary solution to a problem that they created. The unit is just a very flimsy cheap piece of plastic for $29.99.2) The foot of the mount is slightly longer then it is wide which makes this mount directional forward or backward. You wont be able to mount it facing right or left, if you are using a shoe rail it will only mount in line with that rail. Many shoe rail systems mount accessories left to right so that means you will need to use a 1/4 inch shoe adapter to mount it in the right direction adding unnecessary bulk to a setup for me that is aiming to be compact.3) This mount is not for run and gun on top of a camera. I guess it is meant to be used on a stationary tripod setup but you should not have to worry about vibration on a setup like that. if you are using it on a handheld setup, don't bother with this as the weight of the device with a shotgun capsule attached it too much for the rig and it will wobble a lot actively adding more handling noise to your recording.I ended up using zip ties to attach it to a thin cheese plate that i purchased here on amazon with a cut to size craft foam sheet from michaels craft store for vibration insulation placed between the unit body and the plate. it replaces the LAV clip (but if i use the LAV i mostly just put the unit into my pocket anyway) and restores the ability to compactly mount it anyway I need it to. this method is much more stable and compact and overall does the job better for cheaper.
