About 27 years ago I played the alto sax and I got pretty good at it and so one day I was walking by the pawnshop, and noticed a tenor conn how many ask the guy if I can plant and man it was awesome I should’ve been playing the tenor all along. I was doing some progressive blues and just free will in it for a little bit and I listen to guy and I said I hope I didn’t bother you or anyone and he was all no no no keep playing it looked up and there was a crowd inside the area and he had the same read a 1.5. It is a much easier read to use when you’re starting out start by doing duck calls you gonna put it in your mouth piece set it up and you gonna put it to your lips and you’re going to make smooth calls , I call him duck calls because that’s kind of what it sounds like so I bought the same 1.5 reeds for my new sax. It’s a used conn with metal resonator’s new pads it was pretty clean and the sound is just beautiful but now I have to relearn everything so in a month or so I’ll go back to a 2.0 but the 1.5 was definitely a good starting point good luck and have fun, I was soak my reeds for about 15 minutes in water. It makes them work much better.
