Smooth and quite; great modulation. These pads replaced Kool Stop V brake inserts which screamed like a banshee. Go Shimano! Go Shimano.

These lasted for about 200 miles of flat commuting, compared with 600-800 miles on kookstop cartridges.

These pads are just what I needed. My old pads were getting to the point of just smearing my rims with rubber goo. These new pads are a return to "like new" status. Installation did require a little file work to get the pads to seat perfect. All and all a smooth repair.
