I mounted this on the tongue tool box so I can slide the plug up into the cover. it mounts easily with the screws provided but I wouldn't use them to attach to steel. the one thing I noticed right away was the snug fit and a bit of suction trying to remove the plug. that's good in the way that the plug is protected but my concern will be next winter if it doesn't contract and make it difficult to use. I lathered it with wool wax to ease the process of removing other than drilling a relief hole which could defeat the whole purpose. came with 2 even though I have 1 trailer now I have a spare. I would recommend

Gets the job done. Should be slightly larger diameter, way too tight to get the the trailer plug seated inside. But it should at least keep water out.
