This working posture saves your back and helps you move larger logs. The link system makes the jaws work in parallel for a safer grip. The harder you lift the harder the jaws grip. This is very important when you handle larger logs. With your arm at your side and back straight, the LONG Timber Tong will reach a piece of firewood by your foot. The design of this logging tong is great though a bit on the heavy weight side. I don't think you really need steel to move firewood logs around, it could be made of aluminum and be a lot lighter. The mechanism requires to learn how to use it a little longer than with a traditional tong but once you get used to it, it is very easy but again, due to the tool's weight, watch for your carpal and your wrist!! I tried it with different log sizes, it does not work well with very small logs below 4 inches in diameter but is phenomenal with bigger logs.
