Raises that area of the sink where you can sit things on. Install the clips and I pinched them with pliers. Mine fell off. Otherwise perfect!

I've had this for a while now and should have reviewed this rack sooner. It is so poorly made, be aware that the steel grid is not flush, the horizontal wire sits on top of the vertical, creating an uneven surface. Anything smaller than a plate or bowl, i.e. all glasses and containers with bottoms, fall over, constantly! Even my Britta pitcher can't stay upright on the uneven surface! The result: glasses topple over and break, hitting plates that then are cracked in a domino effect that renders this product worthless and frustrating to own. I have used it so can't return it to Amazon, but this is a warning to anyone who reads this review, you'll be sorry.
