I was working on my daughter’s toy chest so I got this so the lid didn’t fall on her or her hands. Works well and is soft close so we don’t have to worry about it coming down and crushing her fingers.

Here is one lesson I learned, it's not as simble installing a pressure strut as you may imagine. I tried installing them on a wooden box i built to keep camping equipment and emergency gear in my suburban. I was successful at installing it but it wouldn't close all the way and if i figured that, I wouldn't be able to open the lid all the way up. The struts seem to work very well, though for anyone trying to do this, definitely do your homework.

Strong and lightweight gas struts for wooden trunk projects.These turned out to be too large for my small pirate chest project, they need a lot of room on the bottom because of the total length after extension being larger than I expected.But they are lightweight plastic and push up with a lot of force, sufficient to keep the heavy lid open without suddenly slamming down on people's hands.

They work very well. I have installed them in a very old toy box that used to be held open using string. A little tricky because the instructions are vague and printed on the clear bag but you’ll figure it out

I am using these to slow the close of the top of a bunny hutch and they're working great. The bunny hutch tended to slam shut if you weren't careful. It has a hinge that is supposed to lock open in a certain position but sometimes that will just give out randomly. These hinges do a great job preventing smashed fingers.

Good struts for toy boxes or other boxes you want to slow close or stay open when in use. Instructions are on each package and kind of hard to read and the ends feel pretty cheap, but dont over tighten them and they're fine.

Good set of soft-close hinges. Comes with short screws, which I am replacing with longer ones. $10 for the set is a good price.
