Make sure you order the correct size. Some chair sizes didn’t work with these.

fit well, used hot water to soften plastic and it made it easier to install.

I measured my chairs, and bought the correct size caps. That said, they are the same size, meaning they don't go in. I've tried using a mallet, and tried lubricating with oil. No luck. I've gone back and read the reviews again and it's seems this is a very common problem. I've destroyed 5 of the caps trying to get them to work. No idea if I can return the rest. Sad. Had high hopes for these.

They worked, but it is good there are a lot of them. Several broke will trying to put them on the chair and table legs. But then they send you many!

This is a great repair/replacement for the plastic gliders on our old iron patio chairs. Perfect fit. And the package contained twice what we needed, which is ok with me, as I suspect their longevity is limited to a few years. Easy to install.Tips. Measure your chair. When measuring, make sure the old glider is completely removed. The inside diameter must match the replacement. On our chairs, the old gliders were missing, and I found a few had part of the old glider remaining inside, which I pried out with a flathead screwdriver.Use a rubber head hammer to tap the glider into place. Do not use any glue or adhesive when installing. Do not use any oil or lubricant when installing. If you paint the chair before installing, let the paint dry thoroughly, then apply some heat with a hair dryer or heat gun insure the paint is dry. Heat sparingly to avoid destroying the paint.I gave durability a 4-star rating because I am clueless as to how durable they really are. The durability of similar gliders on my other chairs has been very good. This is surprising as we have a concrete block patio.

I replaced all the caps on an eleven piece 20 year old set after having it stripped and powder-coated (looks brand-new!) About 1/2 of these simply snapped in; the other half required special techniques. On most, I stretched a heavy cloth over the cap and down the leg to hold the cap in alignment, then used a mallet to tap them in place. On a few, I had to cut notches in the compression sleeve due to welding slag left in the cup from original manufacture that wouldn't allow the cap to go in. Just align the cutout notch with the slag, and they usually went right in. (Use the heavy cloth trick to hold them in alignment.) You can't always "pop" these in as you might think. Once done, they stay in place and work really well.

Installed these in 30 year old Meadowcraft metal furniture.Have not had these installed long enough to rate durability, but have some suggestions for installation:You need: Dead blow hammer. (Not the rubber mallet) 1 pound size is perfect.1/4" cold chisel or similar size screwdriverUse chisel to separate remains of old slides from feet. Tap in with hammer and pry out remains.Heat new glides in hot water or just set in sun for few minutes. Makes them more flexible.Carefully place new glide over old foot, press edge in evenly all around with hand pressure until you feel a click. Check all around for even insertion. Now hit center of glide with dead blow hammer. If it is not then seated fully all around, hold edge that is seated and tap remaining edge to seat it. Starting the insertion evenly with hand pressure is the secret here. DO NOT try to insert one side and hold it while hitting other side. Will not work and will damage glide. After you do a couple and gain confidence you can install glides with one blow and another to confirm. Inspect all around foot--if it is seated evenly you are done.

Product is necessary as we have a concrete patio area. When I first tried to put them on, I wasn't sure they were going to fit. I rushed it and destroyed the first one. You do have to be forceful with them. Clean the bottom of the chair with a rag or wire brush, try to snap it in with your hand, if tight give it a good wack with a rubber mallet - giving close attention to the position of the glider making sure the lip of the glider is on the inner side of the chair. They were a very tight fit. These are a more durable, harder plastic than the originals. So absolutely pleased.

I purchased this product to replace very old and cracked chair and table leg caps. I am so far very pleased with the purchase. They were everything that I hoped they would be. They are durable and are smooth to operate on my pvc deck. They went in to the legs fairly easily and are staying in place.

I researched the reviews and tips others wrote and this made all the difference on how easy these patio furniture glides were to install. I used a wire cutter plier to catch hold of the old white ring left by the previous glide. It was easy to pull out the old plastic. I did as another poster stated and used Windex to clean out the dirt and sand from the foot of each piece of furniture. I used an old toothbrush and thin sock to clean and dry each hole. Windex dries without residue, so use it instead of anything oily. Then Since I didn’t have a rubber hammer, I tried a couple different vinyl and rubber items to cushion the blow of the hammer. I first taped the glide on, but found I could push and turn the glide into the hole and it would stay long enough for me to place a flat plastic jar opener rubber pad over the glide, gather it in one hand and strike the hammer with the other. I used a vinyl floor sheeting sample to place in my lap so I could place the legs of the chairs in my lap. I was able to sit in the other chair to do the work. After doing two, I got the hang of how hard to strike the hammer and could hear a slight pop when the glide went further into the foot hole. I could hit the rubber covered glide about 7-8 times around the edges in a circle, look under the rubber jar opener, and if I still saw an open gap, I’d recover it and hit a couple more times. Yes, in the beginning you may fumble, the glide may fall out, you may have to pick them up, but after I felt how hard to hit them it was easy. I didn’t have to hit them hard, just quickly and firmly. Now, I hope they last a few seasons. They look great and sturdy.

These fit perfectly in my older iron outdoor set. They glide nice now as I have outdoor fabric on my deck. Was not hard to tap them in with a rubber mallet.
