We designed this grey buffing pad to be used in conjunction with our 3M™ Perfect-it™ EX family of polishes specially developed to quickly remove compounding swirls. The pad removes the compounding swirl marks left by either foam or wool pads and can also be used in the 3M™ Perfect-it™ Paint Finishing System for paint and clear coats repair when the finest finish is required. We developed foam pads to address the unique chemical composition of evolving paint and clear coat technologies. Foam pads are generally less aggressive and produce a finer finish than wool pads. They operate between 1200 and 2000 rpms to remove fine scratches, compound swirl marks, and surface marring. Our 3M™ Perfect-It™ system was created to produce show-room grade finishes with deep color and rich gloss. the 3M product is excellent, it works as advertised, and worth the extra money...the shipping provided by Amazon Services LLC was disgraceful. the gallon container was placed in a air bubble bag, then placed in a box big enough to put 2 gallons in and without any other packing material to take up the empty voids in box. Needless to say there was compound paste that spilled out from the cylinder container rolling around in box. there was very little thought put into getting that product delivered safely. It was delivered with red USPS tape all around it from where box was failing. I took pictures however i couldn't download as it stated format wasn't supported. In order for this not to happen somebody has to think and care...

I detail Boats and RV's for a living. As far as I'm concerned this is the best product to remove Oxidation and bring back the shine. Use this product and you will be working Smarter.

I chose the product after talking to a professional boat service at our yacht club. I thought that my boat, a 1984 Sailboat, would be a perfect project to give it a try.Boat was very chalky and would leave residue on your hands and clothes. Never should have let it get that far but life intervened.We are in the process of cleaning and so far it has taken stains off the hull that always had been a problem. Next we do the top sides which need this type of cleaner. Tried a small patch and it brought back this section to a great finish.My son is helping with the work and he is really impressed.The next project will be a 1965 sailboat that is also in need of major cleaning.Great productRon

3m 06039 is great to renew faded and chaulked gelcoat. It quickly cuts thru the oxidation and leaves the gelcoat shiny and ready for a polish or finish wax. I use a wool pad on a 1500 rpm buffer to apply this product and it doesn't dry out too quickly. The white color washes off easily with minimal rubbin in case splatters need to be removed. I would not use this product on clearcoat paints as it is too aggresive and even on enamel paints, care should be exercised due to this product being aggresive. The only issue I had with this problem is having to order it 3 times as the product popped open in transit twice. Amazon corrected the issue without problems.
